Thread: Carter AFB question

    Carter AFB question

Hmm this may belong in carb tech but it's for a 66 Mustang so I dunno

anyways the thing is that the carb is flooding like it has a flooded float bowl but I can't find a sight glass anywhere or a screw to set it but I noticed it says "Weber" on it also and I remember reading that some webers don't have floats, but I can see the fuel puddling and the car idles shitty and very rich.

what ever shall I do? anyone know about these carbs?

    :ego:

Don't know about the newer, performance carters, like you pictured, but the older ones didn't have an adjusting screw or site glass! I think you got a rebuild kit,(for gaskets and stuff), then pulled the top off, and bent the floats & tabs! LOL! Here's a link to a exploded veiw Exploded View of a Carter model AFB Carburetor
and this is a page from a real old chiltons manual(circa 1971)Carter AFB
It's not much, but all I got, good luck!

it might be blocking off an unused port.

hmm the weber sets the float the same way... you have to bent 2 seperate tabs... one sets the lowest point of the float the other sets the highest point.
