    dcs headers

ok, i managed to come across a set of the elusive dc sports headers for our car. but a couple questions before the install. they're used, so i'm not sure if they came with all the parts. do you need a gasket between the primaries and secondaries? and what about bolts for there? can you reuse the stockies? and any other quirks about these things that i should know?

    Re: dcs headers

i did not use a gasket there, and i used stock bolts as well. not much to tell, enjoy them, they made the biggest difference next to a cam for my car.

I know the pacesetter's come with a gasket there, but I have no idea about the DC's. Nice find BTW.

good news then. and also, how long of an install is it? and any noticable affects on gas mileage? bc my mileage is already pretty crappy as it is.

it depends how well you now how to work on cars, and the tools, etc. and gas milage will most likely go up, but im pretty sure it'll go down because youll want to keep stomping the car to see how it feels and sounds

    Re: dcs headers

i can swap the header in under an hour, but all my bolts cooperate now, cause they have been on and off several times. my first time installing took about 3 hours cuase i had to fight EGR and frozen cat bolts.

    Re: dcs headers

hey buy some LiquidWrench and the night before you swap the header spray the shit out of all the bolts you have to take off. That should loosen some of the rust and make it easier taking the bolts out the next morning. And make sure you have a breaker/cheater bar. The trickiest part is the EGR valve but just be patient and it will go on there. Good Luck

    Re: dcs headers

hey guys remember how i found some dc headers too? well do you also remember how i asked about what type of bung to put on there cuz mine was missing for the egr? and well you know how i would have to find someone that welds aluminum to get it done right? well guess what i found out? uh...DC headers are not made of aluminum. its just steel! or maybe mine are knock offs. if they're not alunimun why does dc say they are? this mean i can just get any welder to help me out now.

anyway just a lil thing i found out about mine. check if yours are too...the easiest way is to just use a magnet.

    Re: dcs headers

they do feel pretty light, but they feel pretty solid too. i get a feeling that mine are steel as well. and i pb'd them yesterday, but haven't gotten around to trying anything else as far as installing.

    Re: dcs headers

Hey Mkymonkey I think they are steel, and I had my EGR valve welded because it cracked. Just take it to any welder. The toughest part will be welding it on the right spot so the EGR valve fits on correctly.

hehe. i still want to pass smog, though. although it could be a small price to pay once every two years. putting the egr on, that is.

the SS header is the one that is better? but you will not find them best bet is to get a used DC or pacesetter.

You won't get alluminium header they would melt!!!!!! They proabably meant it was some kind if ally coating maybe? Exhaust are only made from steel stainless and titanium anything else is too soft or too brittle
