im not expert but if you have the filter to low and say it rained wouldnt that be bad? why not do a custom short intake set-up and connect to a air duct hose and connect to the base. i have this set up in my car and dont have to worry about the pgm fi if it starts to get water or something

Thats why bypass filters are made.
