Cool LX-i Y pipe for carb accords

I saw some old threads here on using the 88-89 LX-i Y pipe one the carb Accords but no tested information. I also have no dyno or time test data to back up my results.
I first tried the 88-89 exaust manifold and Y pipe on my 87 LX-i 5spd which of course is a direct fit with the exception of having to connect both O2 senors to the same 86-87 computer's single O2 wire input. The result was a slight decrease in the hesitation like feeling when taking off in first with a bit quicker rev response time and bit more top end. This might be worth 4-5hp
I decided to improve the performance of my 88 Accord Dx 5spd. It has only 98hp and taller gears compared to the 87 LX-i's 110hp.The problem in using the 88-89 LX-i exaust manifold is that the carb Accord needs one more pipe connected to it than the LX-i. This pipe goes to the air inlet system used mainly when the engine is cold and the choke is on.
I found that a 85-86 Prelude 1.8 12 valve dual carb exaust manifold is a direct fit for the A20A. The head exaust ports and mounting studs/brackets, the EGR pipe, the Air inlet pipe, and the 88-89 LX-i Y pipe ports and mounting flange, all line up perfictly. There is also a passage in the manifold for the O2 sensor to sense exaust pulses from both sides to the Y outlets. The results from this swap are the same as the LX-i's. The main diffrence seems to be smoother idle, quicker rev up, and more top end power maybe even more than 5hp.
My engine is a JDM A20A. I have added a K&N filter element in the stock air cleaner housing, and removed that plastic snorkle barrier. The timing is set at 24 deg BTDC instead of 20 deg BTDC. I also have a Borla rear muffler attached to the stock exaust system.
The deep low tones from my Borla rear muffler actually became much quieter with the Y-pipe exaust manifold setup than with the single pipe exaust manifold. This is at idle and on the freeway.I think this is due to the decrease in backpressure at the exaust manifold.
The acceleration now seems about the same as the stock 87 LX-i but the 5th gear top speed is still 10-15mph lower due to the taller gear ratio-lower rpm in the Dx. I really notice much better acceleration at the freeway on ramp and can maintain higher speed in hill climbing. On a hill where the speed would drop down to 65mph or less in 5th without downshifting it can now do over 75mph.

The Air Suction Pipe is the other pipe on the exhaust manifold, it sounds like you are refering to the hot air hose that comes off the exhaust heat shield.

The AS Valve tends to operate below 3,600 rpm

hmm, so does this mean no need for an aftermarket header? just use a more open manifold? sounds interesting. i've heard of swapping manifolds for the LX-i for the carb models to get a bit more power due to the design.
Keep it HONDA. Or at least Asian.™
