yup Evo IX has these said to keep it stable at higher speeds

also the new STi's have a "mid wing" where the IX has these fin things..supposed to do the same thing

yeah, i was going to say that the evo (viii or ix) mr comes with these to improve performance if nothing else. then i noticed that it was from a mitsubishi site and the sample car was in fact an evo. and if it improves performance there, it probably would do the same for us. the problem we face is tailoring it to best suit our vehicles. because it might be a hinderance if it's overdone or underdone instead of a help.

I think they work in principal. But the stick on ones, I'm sure will create more drag than anything. I've seen them on a few WRC cars, and are a factory option on some STi's and Evo's if I'm not mistaken. I was under the impression they did something to the air and only worked with a car with a true functional spoiler...

I've seen them on airplane wings... they've works for years

DIY e-bay items... probably not as well




You have to do wind tunnel test, yes they produce drag and yes they reduce drag... you have to acheive a balance you can't just stick anything on your car and expect to get the maximum result. Our car is a lot more boxy then 350z or EVO, plus we don't have a spoiler.

I looked at the e-bay thing you guys posted... they are reposting Mitsubishi stuff... they could get into trouble posting their pictures.

Looks like they disected their data as well. but the e-bay guys aren't putting any R&D into making it work with other cars they're just giving you the setup for the Mitsu.

No car is the same.

Although with the data you can make assumtions about where to put the VG's.

yeah, you would need to do some r&d to determine the best size ones for our cars, the spacing, etc. and yeah, if you use them with a (real) spoiler, they will actually help if they're designed to be used with that spoiler. so lets see if we can get a group buy for some spoon fins and spoilers. jk

wrong.....the hatch has a drag coefficient of .34....so that means sedans and coupes slice the air better.
