Well, I worked on the car for about 2 hours today. I can't get the damn EGR tube nut to go into the DC header, with everything attached like its supposed to be. It looks like the bot/nut is stripped a tad bit. The inside thread of the DC looks good. Anyone got any pointers?

I had to pull the egr tube completely off to thread into the header.
You'll have to pull the dizzy, H2o tube at the head. Its a bitch but its the only way not to cross thread the header.

What size of bolts thread into the dc header (hooking the header to the downpipe). My bolts from the paceheader are too big.
I'll be removing that gay ass red oil cap cover soon, my friend gave it to me. My valve cover is filthy dirty too, needs a good wash job.

This is the exhaust gasket I will need and many of you guys probably need.
It goes to a Subaru Exhaust Gasket -Ex. Manifold to Block - 02+ WRX / 04+ STi or
Subaru Legacy 90-95

Just got back from the Subaru dealer and got this for $20.
Subaru Part number is 44022AA020!
The holes don't line up exactly, but i will use my drill press and drill them properly!
This metal gasket has 5 layers!!!! It will seal like no other!
DC Header paperwork describes them as M10-1.25 x 20mm. I got mine from Autozone (M10 X 1.25) for the used header I put on. Get them alittle longer M10-1.25 x 30mm so that you can use a nut for extra compression and a tight fit although its not needed I did. It keeps the bolt from backing out in my opinion.Originally Posted by BITESIZE

Well, I got the header on. I took off all of the exhaust studs, put the header over the holes with the gasket on and rethreaded the studs but not all the way. I'm going to go get some longer studs so I can put them in all the way. I might just get some nice allen wrench bolts and use them instead of studs. I don't know, I'm going to sleep on the idea. I'm tired and I'm still 1/4 done. I still need to put the nuts on the egr pipe at the top where it connects to the egr itself. I'm praying it all works out in the end. I should have stuck with the pacesetter, it was easier, not as nice- but more friendly.
Did you want the pacesetter back![]()
Its worth it. The easiest way is just to drain down the radiator, remove the dizzy and unbolt the water pipe this will give you all the room nessary to install the header. Its really not that much work.Originally Posted by BITESIZE

How does the water pipe come out, does it thread in like a bolt? I've never taken it out. It is alot of work when I'm getting back into the groove of working on my car. I only got 5 hours of sleep after a day of busting my ass at work and then coming home to working on my car for an intense 3 hours. I'm sore to the bone now, and now it's round two.3GEE PRIDE!
