    Hybrid Tranny!!

This is the most beneficial mod I have done so far! Check the gear ratios.

    Shifting at 6000

    89 LX-i stock tranny
    1 32mph
    2 67
    3 95
    4 120
    5 140

    5 at 80 mph= 3250rpm

    Acura Honda Hybrid Tranny
    1 27mph
    2 50
    3 74
    4 95
    5 128

    5 at 80mph= 3500rpm

I kept the accord fifth gear for gas mileage. The acura final drive is lower though. The gears are much closer and the shifting is tight. I hardly lose 1000 rpm's when I shift at 6000! Even cruising through town is nicer. I can shift gears at super low rpm's when cruising in town because the gears are so close togehter. The car fells like it has way more mechanical torque than before. The shift from 4 to 5 is a big drop in rpm's with the accord fifth but I need the gas mileage. 0-100 is way better than before. 5000-6000 rpm's the whole time! Nothin but powerband.

just curious, how hard was it to do the tranny mod?

i would seriously consider this mod if i wasnt considering going turbo or anything. its just that i hate shifting every other second cause id probably hit redline alot faster then id notice with the integra gears.

i remember taking my freshly 5 speed swapped accord out for a test drive, i was surprised that it redline so fast cause i was hitting fuel cut off. still need to get used to it when i can drive it again though. id consider making a hybrid tranny and swapping it in whenever i go to the track though. would be alot of work, or i can just get another accord

    Re: Hybrid Tranny!!

I learned how to do this mod on this site. "How To". Do not do this mod if you are going turbo! Or if you don't thoroughly enjoy shifting gears. when cruising in town, you will be in fourth by 40mph!

You definately need a book to do this mod. I used the honda factory shop manual. It really is not that hard though.

    Re: Hybrid Tranny!!

because of the difference in final drive ratio, you're actually going a bit faster than your speedometer is telling you.

on my car with 205/16/45 tires it is dead-on with stock. kinda cool how it worked out.

    Re: Hybrid Tranny!!

for turbo cars you could do use the integra gears beacuse they are spaced so much better... then just use and accord fd to make them a bit longer.

    Just a thought

    Re: Hybrid Tranny!!

well yea it is a thought, ive toyed with the idea of using a prelude si gearset but with a carbed accord final drive, that way, it would be like using a carb accord 1st and 2nd with a shorter 3/4/5
