I marked the belt with a highliter and it went back on the way it came off. How do i tighten the belt up so it's tight again?

w00t nice cam geardid you notice if the new one is lighter or not?
Its about 4 ounces lighter.

I used my letter scale. The adjustru weighs 18 ounces, and the stock weighs over 22 ounces....it only weighs to 22, so it had an error.
cool![]()
I believe that you just loosen the tensioner bolt rotate the crank counter clockwise a few degrees and then retighten the tensioner bolt while maintaining the counterclockwise tension.Originally Posted by BITESIZE

I'm going to just take the crank pulley off and inspect the belt. I think it might have jumped a gear turning it to tighten the belt. Better safe then sorry, since I took the time to work on this engine so much. Does the crank pulley loosen left loosey? I can't remember.
Just ordered some rear brake pads for my new rotors![]()
straight left handed thread I believe so lefty loosey.Originally Posted by BITESIZE

Well....I can't get my car to start. I've got the cam gear on, everything is TDC, rear brakes lines aren't hooked up. Why won't my car start? It's getting gas, maybe it's flooded?

No it should still start even without the brakes on there. The first thing I would check is all the Grounds. One ground being disconnected could be the cause of the problem. Also are you sure your timeing is right after the CG install?Originally Posted by BITESIZE
If this is tdc, then everything is lined up correctly...

make sure the #1 piston is up and that all the marks on the crank and cam gear are in the right position and the flywheel mark is on it's mark (just like your picture) it's possible even though everything looks ok that you still may be off a few teeth on the timing.
Just go at it slowly and recheck everything.
Is the belt tension ok? and make sure you turn the engine by hand after you reset everything to make sure the belt doesnt have any slack in it.
The belt is tight, and I did turn the crank 2 full revolutions to make sure it was still lined up. I even took the spark plug out to make sure the piston was at tdc. Should I adjust my distributor?
