im thinking of swaping my carbed a20 since its already running like crap. i would like to know how hard it would be to swap to a 1997 1.6L d16y8 engine from a del sol. any info would be greatly appreciated.

just read this first:

Here are the steps for you:
1. convert to EFI.
2. make custom engine mounts
3. make custom engine wirring harnes
4. get the engine actually running.
5. custom shifter rods
6. if you live in emission test state, try to pass emission.
7. etc.
The list can go on and on.
first of all i don't know why you want to swap 127hp engine.
second of all, just get del sol or civic and do the swap easy way.
third, convert your car to efi and turbo it.
Alex.
we whould use that as a template for newbe questiopons such as these
yeah theres a lot of custom things that need to be made, Although I heard that there is a company that makes Engine mounts to go a B series though... SOmeone correct me if I am wrong.
your wrong they made them no longer available cheesburger got the last new set that we know about he my be gettin ghtem blueprinted so we can have them made at a latter date but as of know its custom mounts and axels
nevermind I am retarded
maybe I can talk Cheese into selling Me the mounts...
Sorry for not being specific. reason why im asking this is cause someone is selling me a 1997 del sol as a parts car. the body is a wreck but the engine seems to run nice and smooth. so what i would like to do is take the engine out that car and put it on my 3g. thats the reason why i would like to know if anyone has tried it? how hard could it be since its a d16? thanks

just as hard as any other swap besides a b20 or another a20
just refer to the 2nd post and really your better off saying no to the d16 and just going fi from an lxi or sei
yeah, like shepherd as already outlined, it's going to be just as expensive as swapping in any other engine because you'll have to fab up mounts and wiring and all that stuff. then couple that with the fact that an a20a3 makes just 5 hp less than that engine but the a20a3 is a direct bolt-in, has more torque, and would probably be cheaper than the parts car. your best bet would be to get a civic to drop the y8 in or sell it to someone who wants to do a mini-me swap.

a20 is a much tougher and stronger engine plus its easier and cheaper to get than a y8
