shifting at 5k could be your downfall. the lx-i makes it's torque at hp at 4500 and hp at 5500 if i'm not mistaken. so point is, rev higher next time.

    Re: g-teched the 3g today...

I can run 17.0 with my g tech. that going thru the 1/4 in 3rd at about 86-89 mph. I have an 88 lxi its alwasy been pretty peepy accord compared to the others I have driven.

I go like 7k rpm in first and second or what every your car feels like it will go. Mine always pulled real good right up to the fuel cut in 1st and second.

    Re: g-teched the 3g today...

    269K 205/50/15 tires as well.

but i havent g-teched it this year at all.

No mods other than a K+N filter cone on the TB prolly hurts more than it helps. Origianal exhaust . Elevation has alot to do with 1/4 times as well/ When I went to Montana I ran like 5 18.0 back to back do to the 5k' elevation.

I'd look at tuning . Timing /plug/ maybe your timing belts off a tooth its easy to do.

I take off a little less rpm as well. any spinning and your loosing ET in a big way.

Just for referance I have an International Scout II with a chrysler 440 motor run 16.0 and the same speed 89 mph. same G-tech same strech of road. So our cars are just slow 0-60.

shift higher, like shift at 6k instead of 5k and youll drop about .5 sec off your 1/4, and dump it at about 2600 rpm after a short burnout. You might get into the 16s if youre good

When was the last time your plugs were replaced? How're your compression ratios hlding up? You can run lower times, but not if your car's in poor condition.

Of course I'm lazy. If I wanted to work on my car I'd have gotten a DSM

See there dropped .5 of a second Nice.

Do you here the intake change over after 5k rpm ? that might make a differant as well hp wise.

Its mostly a clutch slip/feathering deal on start up to get the fastest launch one reason I dont really do it to much 1/4 anymore my clutch is going well over 125k miles.

lol, i called it, .5 sec faster. On 88-89 lxi the secondary runners in the intake manifold open at 5000 rpms, that is probably the different noise you are hearing, it is usually quite a bit of difference in sound (i call it Pre-Tec)

    Re: g-teched the 3g today...

one thing is the horrible factory exaust. if you knew how loud these things were with a glasspack you would see how restrictive the factory muffler is to keep the noise down. in the eighties there wasn't a lot of tech with how to make a muffler flow good and be quiet. they just restricted ithe hell out of it. also one thing in older cars that restricts your performance is years and years of buildup on the grid in the converter. thats pretty universal for all older cars. a new converter or not having one will make a difference.

taking the muffler off alone will net you a noticeable gain in this car. That, combined with a cai, weight reduction, and some other mods you should run mid-low 16s.

    Re: g-teched the 3g today...

when i did my 5 speed swap, my lxi ran 17.3 with the auto, pretty much stock. With the 5 speed swap, cai, no muffler, no ac, no back seat, no spare tire, bypassed coolant lines to the tb and intake manifold, other than that everything is stock, pulled 16.2 but after some tuning the car was running high 15s (was taking down accord 200hp v6s with ease)

<---16.3. Clutch dropped at 3,000, shifting at 6,200 rpms, 20 lb.s tire pressure in the front, 40 lb.s tire pressure in the rear. Before 5 speed swap I ran a 18.3.
