bump, i need this car jumped today asap...
It sounds like your igntiion switch is broken. My Bronco did the same thing. I had to jam a screwdriver in it and use some plyers to turn it. The only other thing you can do is hotwire your car. But hotwiring won't work if the steering lock is engaged. You'll have to drill the ignition lock out or find the security bit that has it held onto the steering column.
%$^$@##@!#%^$&^*$%##@#$#$%@* damnit, wtf...im slapping someone...theres gotta be another explanation, thanks for your input though, now i know what to do if that is the problem...

try turning the steering wheel while turning the key. because my car did that to me one day and that's what ended up being the problem. and if it feels like it doesn't want to turn, keep trying.
kool, ill try that when my friend brings his jumppack over.
umm ive had trouble getting my keys out and ya id try turning the wheel orrr are u still in gear cause mine did that to me once it was a weird situation
499ks and still givener shit muhahaha
no, it's not that i can't get it out, it's that i can't get it to turn over...(put key in, turn key to ignite car)
so u cant get the key in at all??
499ks and still givener shit muhahaha
Sooo... the key phyically won't move in the ignition? Or the starter won't turn over?
i can get the key in, but i cant get the key to turn, at all, i put it in and theres no play at all...sorry if u thought some other way...
Aah ok, so what I said earlier was right then. Its probably just worn out. The key could be worn or the teeth inside the tumbler are worn... Or like the other people were saying, the steering lock could just be acting like a bastard. Rock the steering wheel back and forth while trying to turn the key, sometimes that works...
ok, thanks everyone! and it would have to be the tumbler, b/c i try it with the old one, and the new one i just got made...
