    Intake mani work...

I have seen where the intake mani from a b16 needs the holes drilled out to fit but is that all that needs to be done? Can i use the stock tb also til i can find a 70 mm b16 tb?

I need help cause i wanna do this so anyone let me know...I guess my real question is do we have to port the head? Is it a MUST?

    Re: Intake mani work...

you can totally leave the head alone.

my guess is that stock (3g) throttle body will not work with the B series manifold. but you might be able to drill out the manifold to fit with 3g tb. just make sure you don't mess up the ability to use a real b-series tb.

you will need to open up the neck of the intake manifold to use a 70mm tb. even the AEBS manifold that I use only came with 65mm "large" opening. but I have a 68-70mm tb, so i had to open it up quite a bit.

unless you have some serious mods the 70mm tb is gonna bog you down big time.

well ive got 260 cc accel injectors as is and im goin with a full cold air intake and headers in the future so i dont think it will bog me down to bad..

would 268mm be better cause i mean i found both so im just wondering.

bigtime. Id reccomend port matching the intake manifold to the head, there is a slight mismatch that will cost you some power but youll still be making better power than a stock intake manifold, so id reccomend the portmatch also for best results. A stock B18/B16a throttle body will work good in this application. I personally use a B18C5/ITR throttle body (62mm)

    Re: Intake mani work...

i dont think intake and headers are enough to justify a huge tb. really i think you need turbo or headwork+big cam etc... however i am not one to speak rofl... i have super low compression, no turbo, and a huge tb/intake manifold combo...

u will benifit from the port matching of the intake to the head, but it is not necessary for getting it to physically fit.

i dont think they bolt on....the max we can use is 68mm witch is a stock tb bored out to that size....i heard that the 4th gen Tb bolts on and its just a lil bit bigger.

youre gonna need to enlarge the hell out of the intake manifold TB opening to get it to fit.
