I had to change out a brand new axle I got at Awful Zone in the parking lot of a grocery store a mile from my house. I put two new reman axles in my car last summer. Got done with everything about 9:30 at night. Wife and baby were in bed. I took the car for a quick spin to listen for odd noises after checking all fasteners a second time. Got a mile or so from the house, and went to make a left turn. Stopped at the sign, turned the wheel, and started to accelerate. BANG!! Clunk Clunk Clunk Clunk.....car shaking violently but not going anywere, silver parts rolling out into the street in the light of the headlights. Shut the car off. Pick up one of the pieces and find it is a bearing of some kind. Shit. Call the wife and wake her up. She runs up and gets me and brings me to the house. I load the truck with lights and stands and jack. Go inspect and find the tranny end of the driver side shaft grenaded for some fucked up reason. Next day I had to pull the axle out in the Kroger's parking lot. Found out later that Awful Zone gave me an axle taht was a couple inches too short. After alot of looking around, they could not find one that matched the one from my car, but the one they gave me was the right one according to the computer. Great. Get my core back, give them all five or so pieces of theirs back, the refund my money, and I got my original rebuilt. Never knew you could do that. Found it was a much better idea than getting a reman because you know it will fit, and you know how many times it's been rebuilt and what quality it is.
So, bottom line, dont get axles from Awful Zone, get em rebuilt at a local driveline shop!!!
