    Official L.E.D. making thread

First off, this is a serious thread! NO WHORING OR JOKING HERE. FUCK OFF IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BE SERIOUS! I AM SPENDING ALOT OF TIME AND MONEY TO HELP EVERYONE OUT!
Make sure to scroll through each post to see more additional pictures.
(I will be purchasing lumiled's later this week or next STAY TUNED)

I will have resistors for a 9 volt duracell battery and car 12 volt battery operations.

    I have while supplies last:
    100 white led's (5mm) -- 25 cents each
    100 blue led's (3mm) -- 25 cents each
    200 red housing led's (5mm) -- 15 cents each
    50 red clear housing led's (5mm) -- 20 cents each
    200 red led's (3mm) -- 15 cents each
    200 green led's (3mm) -- 15 cents each
    200 green led's (5mm) -- 15 cents each
    50 dark orange led's (5mm) -- 20 cents each

    400 resistors 12 volt(red/green) -- 20 cents each (1 resistor per 4 led's)
    (white/blue)-- 20 cents each (1 resistor per 2 led's)

    200 resistors 9 volt (red/green) -- 20 cents each (1 resistor per 4 led's)
    (white/blue) -- 20 cents each (1 resistor per 4 led's)

(need to buy)-- 12 volt -- 20 cents each (1 resistor per 1 led)
    9 volt -- 20 cents each (1 resistor per 1 led)

    16 qty 2" X 2" circuit boards -- $2.50 each
    12 qty 2" X 4" circuit boards -- $5.00 each

For the smaller circuit board with 16 led's, 4 resistors cost would be approx $5.70 +$2 SHIPPING.

The bigger board with approx. 32 led's and 8 resistors the cost would be $11.40 + $2 SHIPPING.

Labor will be $10.00 per board with led's soldered, give or take what I'm making. Pm me for
    estimates.

I will only charge for all the cost/labor of materials and like $1-$2 to ship them.
I can make anything you want. I am not looking for a profit. I am doing this for fun. My major in college is Electrical Engineering. I love doing stuff like this and am excited to start doing this. Basically give some ideas and I will start making some cool shit for our cars. I can basically cut the boards to whatever size we need. I will have some samples made up in the next week.
When you recieve the kit, it will have instructions on how to wire it up. It will be a plug and play application. These run off of 12 volt power source. I will also be ordering some resistors to run off of 9 volt batteries! You will want to hook up an inline fuse or if you are using a stock location...you may use the factory wiring with factory fuse.
PRICES ARE SO LOW BECAUSE I BOUGHT IN BULK. THESE PRICES ARE LIKE 500% LOWER THAN WHAT YOU CAN GET AT RADIOSHAK!!!!!lmao
The more led's you want the more in price. I am hooking 4 led's to one resistor. I plan on buying some resistors to go with a single led, so you may buy them seperately (led with resistor). Basically it would be a plug and play with however you desire to use it.
    Circuit boards!!!!
3mm on the left 5mm on the right!

    Forward voltage: 1.7V @ 20mA
    Brightness: 1172mcd @ 10mA
    Maximum DC current: 30mA
    View Angle: 20 Degree
    Package: Water Clear
    Size: 5mm Round
    Leg Length: 24mm
As you can see, there are mounting holes to use screws. I was thinking about using double sided 3m tape.

What lovely craftsmanship I do...J/K. This was the first day I got them!

    Doing somemore measuring!!!

DIAGRAMS TO WIRE THEM UP... when specifying what you want download these and use these to do your ordering. Remember the 3 holes touching are all "Hot". You will want to take this into consideration when doing your brainstorming.

    Suggestions....
    Tail light led's
    Instrument Panel Led's
    Front Turn signal Led's
    Instrument Cluster Led's
Led circuit board reading "HONDA" OR "ACCORD" OR "3GEEZ" OR YOUR NAME!!
I will be converting all my turnsignal lights to led's!!
I'm going to make a kit to put in our mirrors so they have turn signals like M3 mirrors.

What's the viewing angle and brightness rating for the LED's you're using? Any chance they are Lumileds?

    Re: Official L.E.D. making thread

If someone sends me an Instrument Panel. I will do this for free to get the jist of it down. I was thinking the same thing, but I don't want to tear mine out, since I've got enough going on with my car anyways. But I could get a kit started!
When I figured the prices that was how much I payed plus Shipping to my house. I've spent over $150 on stuff...!!!
Cheap prices from me to you!

I was thinking the same thing with the 3geez 3rd brake light. Those would be $35 (depending on color) including shipping with $5 donated to 3geez.com!!!! They would be $30 because I'd have to take some time making them.

    Re: Official L.E.D. making thread

I planned on the green ones going to A/C buttons and such. The 3mm small ones would be used for this. The 5mm will be used for bigger components like dash lights or turn signal lights. If you want some led's and resistors pm with how many you want, and I will get them wired up for you.

    Re: Official L.E.D. making thread

I'll name this "Protype Red Led 101"

This protype will be clean cut front and back with no blemishes, so it will look professional. Led's will be in the front, resistors and jump wires in the back. I've done measuring and calculations this whole passed month. Remember, these boards can be cut to fit. I can basically cut them to fit just 2 rows of led's. I could even mount the resistors on a seperate board, so you could mount the led's in hard to reach spots. These little boards won't take long to solder, so I'll only charge $5.00 labor on these 2"X4" boards.

    Re: Official L.E.D. making thread

If you are planing on using these for any exterior lighting you should really look into using these:
    http://www.lumileds.com/products/line.cfm?lineId=4

They are brighter, have a better viewing angle, and have much stricter quality control as far as matching forward voltage drops. Also keep in mind the ones you are using are designed to focus the light in a particular spot not spread it out like a lamp would. That's fine for the console and cluster in the dash, but when it comes to the dome/door/trunk lights it will light up one small area directly in front of where the LED's are facing and even a diffuser will have a tough time making it do any more then that. Same deal with the tail lights. If you are standing directly behind them at eye level they will look really bright but as soon as the tails move abover or below your eye height the brightness will QUICKLY fade.

I was thinking about buying some of those. Probably one in each assembly would light up a bunch.
