Some of these pictures are upside down, sorry. But you get the idea!

I put the single white led with resister in the turnsignal...

I put the blue single led with resister in the turnsignal...

For fun I put the red led in the turnsignal...

i agree, because i'm betting that all of those will be washed out beyond usefulness on a bright day.

I'll probably be putting two led's in each. I will have pictures tomorrow in sunlight.

i'm not sure even 2 will suffice. if you were playing with 3 watt luxeons, you'd have little to no problem with a single emitter. even with those, i'd go with at least 5, though. there's a reason the auto industry hasn't takend off with LED tech. heat is one factor (you have to heatsink luxeons), price is another.

one thing to remember is that aftermarked turnsignal lights use at least 7 "normal" LEDs, and they still aren't bright enough to pass DOT standards.

These are 5mm white led's though. I think the aftermarket ones aren't but 3mm. 2 of these 5 mm are a tons brighter than the stock bulb. If people want more I can just charge them 25 cents more for each led, problem solved I guess. They are bright enough that I would use two in the daytime while driving. Whats good for me should be good for anyone else. Just my 2 cents.

It will probably be a week until I actually start on this project. I'm going to do some thinking and get it figured out the best way! This isn't the first time I've torn apart these gauges, so that will make the process quicker.

I got the huge package O' shit to put led's in!!!! Thanks for sending extra bulb sockets, I'm going to need them to practice on. I think it's going to be easier than I thought. But we will see. Let the making shit officially begin!!! Any colors you want in certain places? I counted 21 bulb holes in just the cluster here. I'd imagine there's probably 8ish more inside the cluster. So when you do the math... for all white led's at 25 cents plus resisters the cost is around $8.40 which is still cheap (based on 21 led's)

    More pictures....

As soon as I map out this circuit board it will be easy sailing. I've got to figure out what each line goes to and why. I want to use the existing bulb plastic things, this way it's a plug and play application. Everything I make is going to be a plug and play hopefully.

hey bitesize. THe lil bulbs on the back of the gauge can be inserted 180 deg around. If any, you gotta tell US which one is the (+)ve and (-)ve or send us a copy of the schematics and with the bulb holders marked (+)ve and (-)ve so that we dont insert the bulbs in the wrong way, since they can be inserted either way around.

I realize this, this is why I'm trying to figure a better way out, because not everyone is smart like me and you. I want to make it as easy as possible for everyone.

btw the side with the resister is alway positive.

    Any ideas are welcome!

Remember, If you want to make the LED's shine better for dash guages you need to sand them so that thay look cloudy. This helps to difuse the light better. This way you won't get bright spots on the guages.

why dont you just connect the dash on the car and power it up and use a multimeter to check its polarity out?

Because that would mean I'd have to disassemble my gauge cluster etc., and I have too much going on my car already.

Fucking awesome find brother!!!! That's what I've been looking for. This will reduce the cost greatly for the gauge cluster!

Kick ass, glad to lend a hand in your quest for an all LED car!!

Also, I just thought of a REALLY dim spot on my car, that damn trunk light!!!! Is that a festoon type bulb? If so, I'm thinking of ordering the 9 LED festoons for the interior and the trunk. I'd love to put some up under the dash in the footwells up front too, I hate a dark floorboard at night. I'd like to find a way to put some in the back somewhere to light up the rear floorboard.....
