    Cutting the Koni bumpstops

ok so when we installed my konis we didnt cut the bumpstops (even though geddy said to lol) and now I see that most people on here do cut them. What is the point or advantage of shortening them? Will it wear out the shock faster, or can they handle the extra travel?

here's a pic of some that are cut:

I found an old suggestion from Jim not to cut them too much:

The advantage of shortening them is that you increase your suspension travel. Shortening them too much risks bottoming the damper out and damaging the valving. I took a little more than 1/4" off mine and I'm pleased with the result.

Ya, I plan on shortening mine... But it depends on the application. Ground control says you should shorten them when installing the coilovers, but if you dont plan on dumping your car then I might just a little but not much.

nothing is "wrong" with them (well besides the fact they were installed upside down lol) but if improvements can be made i'd like to make them

what is the effect of more suspension travel? smoother ride?
