    finished armrest

So here's the armrest that i have finished. I painted the armrest because it was tan and wouldnt match the brown interior. So for the two center console pieces to match i repainted the shifter boot area as well. Here's a quick pic, i will get some pics of everything installed later on today. Tell me what you think.

The armrest cover was made by my mom, me and my bro stretched and attached it with staples. It's made out of vinyl.

That looks like a nice contrast. Now get it in the car so we can all get the full effect!

Of course I'm lazy. If I wanted to work on my car I'd have gotten a DSM

So here how it was before with the shifter area piece missing

I still have to get that little cover like piece where the e-brake is, me and my bro wil ljsut use the same material as was used for the cover, because the original is worn.

That's a really rich brown there. You guys are going to have to do some more interior pieces like that for it to flow well, but it looks great!

I agree with you on the color. Its way too bright, and due to the flash its really obvious. Its not so bad in regular light or when you aren't looking at the adjacent trim pieces. Once we can find some darker brown paint, it'll get redone. On that note, anyone know of a paint that is a closer match for the brown interior? The autopart stores around here had this as the closest color.

I used Painters Choice interior/exterior satin in Espresso brown for mine. I got the same effect that you did. There was an almost exact match at Home Depot but it was gloss. That was the closest match I could find anywhere and I looked at the 5 major places around that sell paint. By the way, if you Armorall the rest of the dash and interior, the color difference is not as apparent.

    Re: finished armrest

The contrast depends on the lighting. The dash is slightly lighter than the other interior pieces, so the color difference when looking at the entire interior isn't so drastic, especially in daylight. The glossy look really sets the color off in the camera flash. The armrest sure feels nice though, and has that extra storage compartment too

I know exactly what you mean. Same issue with mine. I matched my color to one of the little screw covers on the door. It matched nearly perfect, but once I installed it, it was off from the dash and other areas that get a lot of sun. As far as I'm concerned, I could care less if it was purple, I got my extra storage and that's all I care about! I'm sure you feel the same way!

why not paint the rest of the interior or just certain panels the color you painted the arm rest with? then it would look much better thats a nice brown

To tell you the truth, the thought crossed my mind. But that would be a lot of work to go from "old doo-doo brown" to "fresh doo-doo brown".
