    Wiring up an AFC unit

We're talking the gen 1 single knob AFC here. Having trouble finding install instructions for this thing. I know a couple of people have set these up and all I need to know is how ya did it.

    Any help would be good!

are you wondering where the SAFC wires go within the accord wiring, or are you wondering what the SAFC wires are even supposed to do?

It's not an SAFC... it's the old fashioned one knob AFC unit.

What I need to know is how to wire/setup the unit.

I'll post a howto. It's for the 1st genner AFC (only one knob) and most people want the uber cool SAFC-II digital has-it-all unit. Still the original AFC is easy to wire up and I can feel the extra oomph the bump in fuel gives.

actually, if you take ash tray out and use the rail braket, it will fit right there with no problem.
That is where i had mine installed.
it was nice and no knew about it.

hmm i wonder if i could sneak the safc2 in that spot! i have mine mounted to the lower part of the dash next to the ignition. i have to remove the rest of the keys from my ring or else they will swing into it and scratch the screen.

I like it where it sits. That's where I had intended to put it when I won the bid.

unless you have wideband, non of the aftermarket air fuel gauges will tell you accuratly how lean or rich your engine is running in wide open throttle. they are useless for everyday driving. Even in whide open throttle they can't detect properly.

    Wouldn't mind having that.

The AF gauge is disconnected right now... it really doesn't tell me much outside of going uber rich when I go WOT.

The only difference wiring wise between the gen2 (that one) and the gen1 (the one on my dash) is that the gen2 requires an rpm signal.

Otherwise, set it up as if you were installing it in a 90-93 Accord.

On that model, you will need the RPM signal so it knows which setting to use at which time. Mine is just a blanket fuel increase/decrease so the RPM signal is not needed.
