    wow weird shit,

ok i got the metal gold looking thing that is over the carb and i pulled all the wire mesh stuff off it and ran the car and it seems to pull better.

i tryed my other one that still has the mesh on it and my car seems to not pull as good.

maybe its just me but hell im gonna keep the one without the mesh on there,

go buy one from a junkyard and stip all the mesh off it and try running the car and u will see what i mean.

i dont know maybe it lets more air flow into the carb or something, maybe the mesh restrics air flow a little.

yeah I punched mine out too... there is also a major restriction right below the primary barrel.. it's on the inside of the brown EFE plate. It's called the EFE Screen and it electrically heat the fuel... helps out on cold days.

well prying it off the manifold will be a pain, make sure you have some gasket sheets to make a new gasket for the plate... the gasket between the plate and the manifold should be a thick cardboard looking one.

or you could always buy a rebuild kit.
