    Tire Size Accord lxi

The manufacturer reccomended tire size for my accord is 195/60R14 but they are hard to find and expensive. I'm thinking of going to a 195/65R14 for the front because they are easier to find and cheaper. The difference is the hight;about 1/2in. higher for the 195/65R14,
but I'm not sure if they will hit the inside of the wheel wells.

If anyone can give me some advice about this I would appreciate it
    Thanks,Jim

lol...you got to shop harder....anyways i dont think a 1/2 inch would be too much...its just going to throw off the speedo...and say you are going slower...so becareful of the cops.

    How about these.

    $37 each

Shipped, mounted, and balanced you'd still be under $250.

My gfs '92 Integra had 195/65R14s on it when we bought it and stupid me, I didn't even think about it when we bought new tires for it. I ended up putting new 195/65R14s on it and realizing the next day that it should have had 195/60R14s.

Anyways, the difference is so minimal it barely makes a difference in the speedo and there have never been any clearance issues on that car.

I put new 195/60R14s(OEM EX-i size) on my Accord last time because I wanted something I could use on another car in the event that it finally dies (stock on my LX 185/70R13).

I've never understood the reason for 60s on the 14 inch rims, as 65s are in fact closer in height to the overall height of the recommended 13s on my Accord.

Anyways, you really gotta get a measuring tape out to see the diff in height.

    More info for you.

I recentley got a Magellan 760 portable nav unit. It can display your current speed amongst other things.

In my RSX-S (Stock everything), the GPS matches the speedometer kph for kph.

In my Accord (+ sized from OEM 13s to 195/60R14s), the speedometer shows 4-5kph FASTER than the GPS.

In my gfs Integra (195/65R14s vs OEM 195/60R14s), the speedometer consistently shows 3kph SLOWER than the GPS.

I did more math and 195/60R14s are indeed almost identical in height to the 185/70R13s my Accord had on it. So I have to believe that the speedo would be showing 5kph higher with them as well.

I can't be bothered to swap fronts between the Accord and the Integra, but I have a feeling that the OEM tire size on the Integra would end up showing at least 3kph fast on the speedo.

Bottom line I wouldn't be concerned in the slightest about running 195/65R14s on your LX-i.

Ei9ther go 185/65/14 <<really easy to find... or 195/60/14 still pretty easy to find... but the 195 seem to be significantly more expensive.

i agree with azmike. I just spent two days searching and trying to decide whether to go with 195 60r14 or 205 50r15. Some 15's are cheaper, but the falken 512 is such an awesome tire and cheaper in the 14" so i ordered them. i usually go through vulcantire.com, but they didn't enough stock in the warehouse, so i ordered them from discounttiredirect.com. cost is $44 each not including the $25 mail in rebate. also, free shipping! so, they ended up being $1 less per tire and about $7 less after the rebate.

i have run the falkens on my 04 mazda mpv and they really are a great tire. they were rated #1 by consumer reports too!
