You can't really compare my engine with yours as 1 it's got a teg manual box and 2 it's head has been extensively moddified by myself with R&D work i've done over the last 7 years since i've been moddify these engines. And my speedo only indicates speed upto 140mph and the needle goes way past that espcially when running the carb stock box with the taller gearing estimated speed was around 155+mph as was able to over take a M3 which was trying to race me and there limited to 155mph. But mine is lighter as well which helps a little more in accelleration though.
But seriously though get a compression test done if your only pumping 140 or less your engine needs a re-build if you ahve 175plus engine is in great shape for 200k i'd expect between 125 to 150 on yours to be honest and around 90-125 or even less if it's shot.

I'll definately have the compression done. Do you have any suggestions in respect to the CAI? My hunch is that the compression should be pretty good. The guy that owned the car before me had it from new, and was maticulous about maintaining it. But now that you've peaked my interest, I'll have it done.

I don't know i custom made mine with a mandrel bent tube 2.5" with 45 degree bend, silicon tubing and performance cone filter.

I know this thread is ancient but I managed to re-adjust the tappet(don't bash me rich! ) The new set up is

In 0.13mm
Ex 0.20mm

The oil is BP 10w-40 Magnatec(my be in EU only)

After warming up, unfortunately it started to stall at idling with selector is in D4 and D3. I have learned on the web that if I adjust the tappet too tight, engine might stall. I tried with idle speed adjustment a bit but no luck. So I resetted as standard

In 0.13mm
Ex 0.25mm

but as rjudgey suggested the filler gauge drags very much. Now the idle is fine and the tappet is much quieter. I blame for the combination of sports cam and A/T for the engine stall. Softer oil might help but at the moment, I prefer keeping standard oil viscosity so I call it a day. Thanks for the help!

The signature pic is with imaginary painted front and rear air-dam but apart from that it is still going strong. The rear wheel arch may need attention this summer. Yep, I remember that we have to do something about the adjustable gear. Hope I will be getting there very soon.
