i was just looking over the manual, and i was wondering if its a typo error on the power steering pump portion. it states that it runs at atleast 1138PSI, is that a typo error or is that actually true?

It's gotta be a typo. Unless they built some crazy mega super ultra high strength power steering lines and seals.
Gotta be a typo, that's pressures like the hydraulic rams on our John Deere loader run lol.

High side internally prolly does. Most domestics can go 1500 psi pretty easy I have looked into running a winch off my truck that way one time.
Brake pressure are around there as well.

yeah pumps run at a high PSI..im not sure if that is true tho

actually the pressure should be between 1138 and 1280 PSI. that is what my 87 shop manual says. So yeah it is not a typo.
Alex.
welcome to the wonderful world of hydraulics, kids. Oh yeah, and most modern diesels have fuel injected at over 22000psi. Yes, thats 22000psi

damn, i think that would most likely be able to blow a hole through my intercooler once it hits the higher RPMs
what kinda PSI are we looking at once it hits the steering rack, or does it reduce the pressure after it leaves the pump?
The return is the "lowside" of the system prolly 60 psi. Im just guessing. You can tell by the style of lines. The low pressure are usaully held on with just regular clamps the high side is a made hydraulic line. Err many moons ago when I was young dumb and full of cum (and broke) I tried a low side hose on the high side of my Scout with about 7 water clamps on it. It didnt work nuff said on that.

Wow I never knew the PS pumps operated at that kind of pressure!! I assumed maybe a couple hundred PSI, guess I was way off LOL. Learn something new every day!!![]()

LOL CAH Race Car!!!! I bet he only uses Timiken Muffler Bearings and Crower Piston Return Springs in his race engines!!!Originally Posted by MessyHonda
