i am bout to get cracking on making my adapter plate so that i cam mount my b18a cable tranny to my a20a motor. this is being inspired by jason budds turbo 9 sec a20a/b18a combo. we realy dont have to many details on how he did his, but we can work with the pictures ect. i am def going to need some help from the other members with stuff like CAD drawings. i was checking out www.emachineshop.com and was thinking that i could try to just them to get some parts made. i will def shop around on priceses first.
i need some help on deciding what materials to use. at first i was palning on making it out is a steal plate. but then i seen the price of steal, the weight and thought how hard it would be to work with. so i think i am going to go with aluminum. do yall think aluminum is strong enough to hold? i was thanking of getting a 2.5x2.5 3/4" think sheet to start off with. ill get the exact measurement of the mating surhace to make use that not to small. but what do yall think on the thickness. is 3/4" to thick or to thin
the first thing i am going to need help on is making the adapter that going to go inbetween the b series flywheel and the a series crank. seeing that i have both cranks and flywheels in my basement i can check to see how similar the bolt patterns are. if they are exactly the same then i would just need a CAD drawing of the bolt pattern that is the circular curcumfrance of the crank end, that is also 3/4" (or what ever we decide) thick. we also need to debate is this going to throw off balancing. i am going to take some flywheel bolts to a specialty bolt place to see if i can get time 3/4" longer to making up for the extra space of the crank spacer.
here is a pic of jasons budds spacer. not sure if its actually fused onto the end of the crank
if you have any important info/suggestions please peak up, and ill update them on this first page
