Yup, the price alone makes me worried, but that just confirms it.

It's why I don't buy $75 new headers that are "greddy style" or "megan style"

    yup crap parts don buy

The turbos such and their stuff doens fit well at all. I helped a friend install a kit on his prelude and nothing fit right we had to modify almost everything. Didnt use the turbo cause it died at idle.

their turbos are horrible, may people report after a month or so housings falling apart, catastrophic internal failures, exc.. now from what ive been hearing their new manifolds are decent, expecially for the price, their old ones were so thin that when the welds cracked, you couldnt successfully reweld themm.. in conclusion ssac = rice

btw their customer service is virtually non-existant too..

yeah check this "xs power" turbo kit out.. it says its a STAGE III!! i wonder if price includes the VTACK!!

    ADVANTAGES OF THIS TURBO:
    1 YR WARRANTY
    QUICK SPOOLING RATIOS
    GASKETS AND HARDWARE ENCLOSED
    STANDARD T3/T4 DIVIDED FLANGE
    OIL COOLED

im wondering what this 1yr warranty is all about.. i wonder if it covers their glued together turbo housings..

I know a lot of people were asking about there products so this is a company to stay away from. There about and hour or so away from where i live so i did some researching for you guys. SSAUTOCHROME/XS POWER is bad news. I don't know if there is a Place for threads of scammers and bad business can go to keep people updated on places not to buy from . If so the info in here can go there.

    Re: The skinny on SSAUTOCHROME

i have an ssautochrome t3/t4 turbo. yes, i have read all of the aful reviews on them, but there was a few things that i took into consideration when i decided to buy it

    1. yes alot of there stuff is crap, but it seems like a bandwagon thing to talk shit about everything they make. most people on forums that are talking about there products havent even ever used them

    2. is it a common problem, if so, it shouldent be that hard to fix. after some time, the guys over on honda-tech found out what was making all these turbos blow the seals. the need to have an oil restrictor added on the line.

3 i actually heard more then 20 good reviews about if from people have been usint them for 3+ years or 10k miles after fixing the oil line problem

4 my first torub was a used t25. it was wimpy, i dont really know its entire history or condition. i paid $100 for it. eben if i had it rebuilt i am still looking to be around the price of the ss t3/t4. ant the ss one is brand new! not to mention much bigger

5 $200 isent really throw away money, but i rather spend $200 on a turbo and loos out then spend $700 on a turbo thats just as likley to blow.

there manifolds have always sucked, most ofthere piping kits dont fit. ss is really a company for a do-it your-seler who can take some time and play with the product. look at the obx lsd for example. this thing had the biggest bandwagon of haters cuz it had a problem with the axle ends sticking in it. after a few people played it it and figured out what was wrong with it its actually a decent lsd. and for $325 new comapred to the 700-900 lsd's, id take an obx anyday

    ^^
on top of that, i hear their fmic kits are pretty decent for the price. guys in the dsm camp say they have the same exact performance as other name-brand items from other vendors and same service life as well.

sq has obviously done his research on this ss junk. he does prove a few goods points about the LSDs and stuff, but it goes without saying that you shouldnt have to modify anything when you use certain items. like ther LSD for example. if the turbos work, then fine, but most guys should use a restrictor anyways. for things like their intercoolers, it shouldnt matter as long as it holds pressure cause its a bargin

you are 100% right on you should have to modify anything, but when doing upgrades and custom applications you should research first. and if people took more time and effort to let everyone know about the flaws and how to fix them it would make the situation better. the worst part is ssautochrome doesnt even do this.

i know alot of there turbo failures have to do with inproper installation. people just simply do not read instructions. before you can run the turbo you have to hold the fins in place until oil runs through the whole turbo. they say at idle the turbo can safely be held from sprinnnig with a pencil

props on research, but improper installation doesnt explain their glued together cold side housings falling apart.. im not trying to mock you or anything but please post results when you install it, itll be interesting to see the outcome of someone installing it right

    Re: The skinny on SSAUTOCHROME

there are a few good low budget parts in there, but you get what you pay for guys. Paying too much is worse than paying too little, say you paid $250 or whatever for your ssautoshit turbo and it blew up, then you bought another one and it lasted but you could have gotten a decent non-knockoff turbo and gotten better results for a comparable price and less headache... Its up to you guys, but ill tell ya thats just one of the reasons why i bought a NEW Precision SC61 vs an XS Power "T70" Sure it was over 2x the price but i know what it can do and Precision Turbo has an excellent reputation. Im just soo tired of bullshitting around with parts that are halfass or that im going to have to replace later.. Besides all the specs that XSpower/ssautoshit say (like T70, T04E etc) are barely even ballpark guesses, they really mean nothing in terms of size vs a REAL Garrett turbo. A bunch of people ive seen say they are majorly laggy vs a genuine turbo, the ones that lasted anyway. If you are majorly cheap and wanna get boosted, it might work but i wouldnt expect much if you are going for big power. I would take a used Garrett over a new ssautoshit/xspower any day, using a knockoff anything is a gamble, just because you hear that it worked for one guy id be skeptical. I have heard of guys that said they worked good but ive also heard just as many if not more (prolly more) that had issues with these things

i hear more people talkng about issues with them that never even owned them, eith the seen or the heard. hey, buying any turbo product is a gamble. you live and you learn, i dont mind giving the ssautochrom turbo a try. its a bugdet turbo and i am building a budget diy setup.

car wont be out until early spring. right now i am working on too many different things. i am mainly focusing on the odb1 conversion. but from here to there i am putting together my suspension and i am still working on the tranny adapter plate. my accords condition is pretty sad right now its totall stripped down. once i get the suspension all together and its a rolling chasis again i am sending it to the body shop so they can get irg of that light surface rust on the quarter and repain the whole car and engine bay. i am going to weld up and shave the bay myself before i send it in for paint

    Re: The skinny on SSAUTOCHROME

I understand that there is some stuff that my be ok from SS but i've been working at my buddies shop for about 7-8 months known him for about 1 1/2 yrs now. Every part that he has bought from them that we have gotten ready to put on staight from the package has been messed up. One thing were your wrong is that they are not new turbos they are rebuilt. Second i would know what goes on in my state with lots of performace stuff. This company is about an hour and a half away from where i live and only 15 mins from my parents house. Just think about it, if you had a company in your state that sold performance parts you'd buy from them cuz it's closer and cheaper. But every person i've talked to that has bought something from them has said they wish they would have spent the money on a better product plus like i said i've had to eithier ship products back or tell people this is what's wrong with the product do you still want to put it on(which we highly recomend them not to) , we try to fix it(more money time and sometimes trouble) or just ship it back. Like i said I looked up the record thru my state BBB and if your on the states naughty list what more proof do you need. If your wondering have i been in the same boat , the answer is yes. Ordered a turbo mani with down pipe , inside welds were rough(Anyone on here could have done a better job) sent it back got a new on got a new one and the O2 sensor port the threads were f"ed up and there were 2 hairline cracks around the port .So there is my sucker story when a guy told me not to and when it happen he told me i told you so.

Just keep this in mind, all you guys that are ballbearing turbo sackriders, when some honda race team went from a non ballbearing SC6152 (like mine) to a GT35R they only gained 10whp and 100rpm quicker spool. I thought that was pretty measly when you compare the prices ($875 vs $1350). Im not saying its a bad turbo at all, but i do think its slightly overrated.
