    1st gen teg trans

I just rembered this last night. Wasn't there a guy awhile ago, the one who was racing his accord prefessionaly, who had fitted a gen1 teg trans. Is he still around? I'd really like to talk to him. I remember that he had to swap the bell houseings, but was it a matter of just useing the bell houseing half of the accord case with the rest of the integra on, or did he have to have the bell houses cut and welded?

Well I just bought a trans. If its been done before I'm sure I can recreate it. Though I still would like any info thats avaiable. The junkyard wont let me self serve the trans due to insurance shit. (I don't see what makes their insurance company think that pulling a transmissoin from a car that is teeterin on top of a pile of old tries is so dangerous, I've done it before and I still have all my limbs .) I should have the trans on wednesday and then its time to get started. 1st up is a phantom grip lsd, since I'm going to be taking the thing apart anyway I might as well add a little touch of spice to it... BAM!

I remember the guy you're talking about. I think it was 88LXi68 that met that guy at the racetrack, but I don't remember him ever joining us here. Sorry that didn't help much, lol :lol

If someone is thinking about asking, these are the gen1 teg's ratios:

    gear ratio: 3.18, 1.94, 1.37, 1.03, 0.85
    final drive ratio: 4.21:1

    compaird to an LX-i accord:
    gear ratio: 3.18, 1.84, 1.21, 0.88, 0.69
    final drive ratio: 4.06:1

Oh, I cross-refrenced the gaskets for the accord and integra trans, they are the same. I'm just going to assume that the shafts are going to line up, it would make sense considering this has been pulled off before. I'll know soon.

I want in on this too, please explain everything you do to get it to work, Mike is right about tegs bein everywheres, I almost bought a Gen2 Teg about a month ago for like 300 bucks, it was just a parts car cause it was rolled, but the junk yards here have tons of Gen1 and 2 Integra 5Speeds

You need to swap the bellhousing to make it work. It's a direct bolt on after that. Nothing special needs to be done to the housing, just bolt and go.

Do you have a teg tranny on your car?

I was looking at them at the junkyard but, couldn't really tell if it was possible to swap. The teg tranny has a motor mount on it, thats the only thing I did notice. I couldn't see the shift linkage to see if it was the same though.

How much better of a trany is the 1st Gen Teg compared to the 3rd Gen Cord? What will I be gaining if I do this?

the teg trans has better accerleration gear ratios. this means faster 0-60 times and 1/4 mile times, also good for autoX. BUT since it has shorter gears you wont be able to get a higher top speed than in the accord and your 5th gear cruisig rpm will be higher. What would be ideal is to use the teg trans with an Accord 5th gear.

Hmmmm - higher 5th gear highway RPMs could be better for a sidedraft carbs setup, since the main venturi on the DCOEs doesn't open up until you're hitting 3000-3500 RPMs. That would mean better gas mileage and performance. Funny how that's different with sidedrafts, from what I've read.

Is the Teg Transmission higher quality tho? or is it just because of the gear ratio, because I would rather want a hwy overdrive (5th Gear) for when I travel to meets, other then that a better 1,2,3,4th gear would be great.
