    custom brake system ?

I have this farfetched idea to take apart the brake system on my 3gee and get one of those larger master cylinders for a "muscle" car and overhaul my brake system, you know with stainless steel brake lines cross drilled and slotted rotors and all that other great stopping power. I want everyones opinion- for whether this is absurd or pure genius?

why would you use master cylinder for american car when you can probably get Honda one from another model that had bigger brakes.
you can get all the drilled and slotted rotors and racing pads, stainless steel brake lines and other good shit. just search.
people on this have impressive custom brakes on their cars. so you won't the first one.

people have also made thier front rotor setup into 4 wheel disc, upgraded to big cross drilled and slotted brakes with ceramic pads and SS brake lines...they have setups for every car to gain stopping power...i just say have to power to NEED to stop that damn much...and shepards right, why go american just for a master cylinder, when you can get one from a v-6 honda/acura...

yeah...so far everything i have got is bolt on...front drilled and sloted brakes with AEM pads...the rear is drilled and sloted disks with AEM pads...and i got SS lines. some people upgrade to a bigger rotor like legend master...he is running 11 inch rotors from the 1st gen legend and type r calipers https://www.3geez.com/forum/showthread.php?t=54232

If you really want to go crazy you can do what I did and use a new factory version of you master cylinder. I dont see why it would not be sufficient unless you are looking for the stopping power of an Ferrari Enzo or something. There's always the cheaper option of drilled and slotted all around with EBC brake pads, Steel braided brake lines and you are set.

I have my Prelude DL master cylinder on my 4 pot calipers with two piece 300mm discs sitting inside 15" alloys and to be honest any bigger master cylinder would spoil the feeling not too spongey good postitive feel brakes are excellent and thats with the stock hoses have yet to get round to fitting the Goodridge stainless steel ones.
If you want to see whats possible have a look on my cardomain page one page has the pics of my custom front setup.

    Re: custom brake system ?

k, coming from an honda/acura standpoint. what's the difference in the master cylinders from the eg/ek's and 3g's? if there is no difference, omnipower makes a performance master cylinder for the eg/ek civics. that' might need a little fabbing up but it'd work, and just like everyone else says:
ss brake lines, i got a deal offered to me if i get mine from here i emailed the company and they said send a donor set in and well make them for you, they said they'd but me a price but it should be about as much as the civics.
    sei brakes, junk yards
    big brake kit, aem
drilled n slotted rotors, a least get 1 of the 2, hopefully both. but if youre not mashing on your brakes every 2 seconds, chances are you probably dont need them, but ya.
    and ceramic brake pads.
also another thing that people forget, your brakes are only as good as the fluid you use for braking, so get some good brake fluid. i dont know much about the fluid, but i'm sure the net has something to offer.
    good luck man.
I've moved on to bigger and better things. 94 integra Gsr Sedan is my new ride. And theres big things coming for it.

Using Hi Spec Calipers about the same quality as Brembo is but a bit cheaper designed and made in England by a local company near me for a change!! He designed and made the caliper brackets and the two piece disks too which are CNC Ally parts.

There's some people here running ITR dual piston (if I recall correctly) front calipers. It shouldn't be that hard to adapt them, you just need to machine an adapter rig out of a solid metal.

Personally I'd go for dual piston fronts and rears, brembo blanks (Fuck slotted and drilled/crossdrilled. They wear your pads down fast for no good result unless you're racing in high brake/heat conditions), stainless steel / teflon lines, adjustable prop valve, decent BMC out of a heavier vehicle, better brake booster, and a nice sticky tire.
The type R's are single piston and you dont need a bracket to run them.

I am running the 86, but I want to upgrade. What I plan to do is upgrade to the 95 Legend GS (twin piston Caliper) brake booster and master cylinder. I think it might be a tight fit, but I will get it to work.
