    would this intake work

    i mean the way its shaped looks like it would fit right down onto the carb

    The hood clearance is the main problem... you have 2.5" or less between the carb and the hood... if it's a 2.5" or 3" pipe then there isn't room for even the slightest bend... you would have to find a perfect 90 degree bend on a 3.5" pipe. but then a 3.5" pip won't fit under the hood either... 3.5" is the aproximate opening for the carb.
