    ground control rear height question

ok, so, first of all, i've not really been on the forums for the better part of 2 years. but, i've finally done a lil more work on my cars, swapping my engine from my 4dr into my 2dr, and finally installed my DC header and 4 wheel disc brakes, and GC/revalved bilstiens suspension. this is where my question is. i have all of the sleeves for the height adjustment about halfway down, basically at the point where it just barely touches the top perch with no load on them. and, by doing so, my front has like 3/4" wheel well gap, and the rear has like 3 inches . i'm hesitant to take the rear lower, because i don't know how the spring not being against the top perch will affect things if i happen to hit a big bump that kicks the back wheels down and the spring no longer on the top perch. also, i don't even know that lowering the rear all the way will get it much lower than stock height (which i'm just a tad above currently ) i was wondering if anybody else has had this problem, and what is the fix? i remember reading in the past about getting the struts shortened, but i don't really have the time or money to do that, and if that is what needs to be done i may have to go back to tokickos/h&r's. so yeah, sorry kinda long, but any ideas/help would be appreciated, and i couldn't find anything in search.

They are supposed to be like that, since they use much shorter springs on coilovers to allow much lowering. You would have to shorten your struts to get rid of that. When I adjust mine to my favourite ride height the springs are several inches below the top perch. (when the wheels are off the ground of course)

sounds like you may need some 0 rate springs to take up the extra space. either that or longer springs.

Ya, I wouldn't worry about the spring being too far from the top perch when there is no load on it. My friends' tein SS suspension was like that, and he didn't have any problems to speak of.

But that does sound like a lot of gap in the rear for them being threaded half way down... something doesn't sound right there.

    Oh and, welcome back.

so yeah, i dropped the rear allll the way down, and not it sits just about 1/2 more wheel gap than the front (which is still about halfway down). it looks a lot better, and almost feels better in the car, other than the rear suspension bottoming out soooo easily, haha. anybody else with teh gc/revalved bilstien combo, how low can you get the rear? i'd still think it should be able to go lower than it is now..

sounds like you need your struts shortened to give you the suspension travel you need with the drop you're running.

I have GCs and Konis and I definitely have them at a little more than a quarter of the way down and I have a 1 finger gap.
