Cool My 87 LX will never be replaced, but I did find..

An 86 DX Hatch! W00t0z. Finally what I wanted to begin with, a hatchy...

She smokes worse than a $2 hooker, has no 3rd gear, and smells like er well we're not going ot say. But for $250, I have hope...

Just as a thought, anyone know any sources for some rebuild kits or anything of the such? Smoking is not a good sign.

Oh it's blue smoke.. I worked on it today for a good 2 hours.. Turns out clutch was slipping because it was way out of adjustment... Throttle was sticking because the secondary mechanical doo-dad is fubared and bent keeping the peddle from being pressed more than a 1/4".. The timing was advanced as far as it would go, fixed that now too... found the dist. cap is also fubared cause while trying to adjust timing I got shocked to hell and back... drove it around a little with nothing but the primary (took off that peice) and it barked the tires on me! Suprising enough..

I think the smoking might be because it's been sitting under and oak tree for a long time and the rings need to reseat cause she's pretty much stopped smoking now I've been running it. o_O No oil leaks yet either, just radiator leak.
Fun. I'll post pics of it once I get my room mates cam.

Viva la hatches . Congrats on the buy and sound like you are going to have to rebuild the motor. Blue smoke is never a good sign, but I would liek to see how long that motor last .

P.S. songs like everybody truly loves hatches more then all other models.

Re: My 87 LX will never be replaced, but I did find..

Ok heres a rather quick update...

Been about 2 weeks working on the car, I'll post some pictures as soon as she rolls on her on.

The engine had been sitting a while and after driving it to my friends house to work on, it stopped smoking, so I'm figuring the rings needed to be reseated. So... I tackled the tranny with a vengence..

..and in went Teggy gears! And while I was in such a mood to rip things out of my car... out went all those vacume lines, printed the faq for the carb and plugged pretty much everything.. Looking for a weber soon though.

Relocated battery to the trunk, decided I hated the 86 style front bumper and put on an 88 with an integra front lip.

Total price spent on the car so far:

    $250 initial purchase
    $40 front bumper and lip
$40 Misc parts (wire, batt term, etc)
    $110 transmission
    $30 tools and cleaners
    $8 cv boot
    $6 Seafoam

    For a grand total of...
484.. Less than the downpayment on my Olds Alero. Nice.... Pics in a few days.
