Ok I have run into a problem, I bolted it all up with pads. Here is what it looked like.

It looks like I could run 11" rotors in the rear. I know they are available. The cool part is that the EP3 rotor has the exact same offset as the accord with the legend caliper. So I geuss this is a no go as a bolt on just yet.

If I can get it to work we will get bigger disk with a much larger piston caliper. I will let you guys know how it turns out.

how about the legend calipers and pads on the accord bracket with the larger rotor?

I think that it will fit just right let us know if that works.

so do you think you could do a short summary of the main part of what i was seeing and exactly why it won't work?

This will not work the caliper hits the accord bracket and the inside of the caliper hits the top of the rotor. I did find a company that makes 4x100 11" rear rotors for a civic and I am going to try those next.

the rotor is about 1/2 and inch to short, so the pads dont touch the top edge of the rotor.

Powerslot, it is a replacement rotor for a 11" upgrade kit. The part # is 29-900L and 29-900R

    ahhh

How much are they running a piece?

The front type R rotors are 11" too right? You think that might affect your brake bias a little to much towards the rear?

    Still great project youre doing

Power slot quoted me $130 a piece and they are drilled and slotted. As for the bias thing, i think the front calipers will always over power the rears. I will not be sure until I have completed the task. I really hope this works, because it will make the rear brake upgrade very easy. I kinda have a feeling I am going to have to space the caliper out a slight bit.

so all thats keeping them from working is a 11" rotor-thats not really hard, what about the guy you bought your front brake kit through?

I dont want anything redrilled, and I am not sure that they need to be 11" either might be smaller (I am going to make the 11" fit either way if I spent the cash for them). It begins to be expensive when you are testing new ideas out . There are no 4x100 11" rotors for any cars, or I would get those.

i just had an idea....maybe use replacement 12" rotors from the same year civic since the offset is the same, then use the calipers from your previous thread on the front setup? i know this doesnt really help with your dilemna but maybe an even bigger step for the fronts?

As soon as I can bet some space freed up in the garage, I'll try the corrado rotors for you. I don't have ITR calipers tough.

Fast brake has the 4x100 Type R rotors thats what I have. There not redrilled he gets them made. There 45 $ a piece and If I think about it I might change mine out since ones got grease from a bad outer CV joint and I should replace them both (twist my arm a little : ) and I can give you them.

Could you use another pad to cover the rotors better?

theres 4 or 5 makes of cars and one Izuzu truck that use the calipers you might be able to find junk or watch rockauto/advance they change there pricing on them alot. I got mine way under 100$ with the core witch I never sent in. i thought about sending them my old Lxi back just to try it but Im to honest I guess.

thanks dude, but it has to be a rear rotor. I tried a front rotor on the rear and they are WAY to thick. As for the pad I was thinking maybe an NSX pad would work since those use a bigger rotor. The problem would be that the top of the pad goes above the rotor. Also I posted the list of cars you can get the type R calipers from in my 11" upgrade thread.

I dont think that would work, because the 11" rotors and type R match up perfectly. Now you could go by a GSR big brake kit and use GSR calipers and the kit would bolt on perfectly minus some offset issues.

himm so its thinner than the type R rotor or the over height is to much ? that make sense ?

Well i'll think on it little. you have a dimension let me know.

There's a site that shows the pad dimensions.drawing and I cant find it atm but the think it was when I was looking up the reason all pads have that D prefix and I came up with a chart. Like Type R fronts are D503. Been a while its prolly on my work computer.

    Ok here is the dilemma

-The civic 10.2" rotor is not tall enough.
-All front rotors are to thick to work with the rear caliper.
-I can tell you that there is 1/2" space between the edge of the rotor and the inside of the caliper on the setup I have posted here.

Re: DIY:10.2" rotors and calipers (Bolt on Mod)

well, this is bad news for the legend calipers bolt on mod..

If there's a 1/2" space between the rotor and caliper then an 11" rotor wouldnt be a problem but the brake pads wouldnt cover the entire wear surface of the rotor, the inner part of the rotor wouldnt be in contact with any of the pad, so we would need other pads which should be longer towards the center of the disc. But that kinda seems like a long shot to find pads like that...

i just took a look at the GSR kit and it is nuts...12" rotors up front, 11" in the rear, and your saying everything would bolt up perfectly save minor offset issues? btw, fastbrakes is offering a 13" brake upgrade for our cars....no information provided on it at all, it just says 6 piston wilwood caliper on 13" drilled and slotted rotors for 88-89 accord lxi
