    Stock LXi Rims rusting

Anyone out there with an lxi notice rust forming on the inside of the rims? i got a pair of lxi rims on ebay for cheap..shipped from florida and now in boston after one winter they are rusting pretty bad on the inside. im gonna have to put my old rims and hub caps back on. I dunno it just doesnt seem normal for them to rust up so quickly..maybe the cleaner i was using?

Yea I always thought they were an aluminum alloy or something like that too. 13 Illinois winters here and no rust. Could they just be really really dirty with brake dust and such (?)

88-89 LXi coupes had 14" steel wheels with covers. Only the sedan came with the 14" alloys

    wheels

Those wheels are OEM Honda 5 spoke accessory wheels and were available on the civics, preludes and accords, or at least that's what the 1988 accessories brochure is telling me.

Dman87LX: Yep that's brake dust alright. It get stuck on there pretty good after years and years. I just removed my wheel covers a few weeks ago and it took me 30 min. on each wheel to scrub that stuff off. You can get some of that foaming wheel cleaner stuff @ your local Auto parts store.
