    My New Tires

I won 4 used 205/50/15s off Ebay. Then the seller emailed me to tell me he made a mistake and does not have the tires. He then offered to send me 4 new 195/50/15s for the same price ($120 shipped). They're Matador Aquillas (see http://www.matador.sk/eng/pneu_letne2.html). They're a performance tire (probably the only one) manufactured in the Slovakia Republic - LOL! They came in today. Here they are:

I think the tread design looks cool. And they're V speed rated. I'm gonna get them mounted/balanced on my Civic 15" steels (also won on Ebay) tonight at Costco. I know they're bit short, so I'm gonna have to figure out how to adjust my speedometer accordingly.

How the hell did you get 4 tires shipped for $120? Shipping is like $50 of that. I need to check ebay for tires sometime. I need two tires for my 20's already and they are about $280 each.
Don't worry about your speedometer. It will be close enough. It should only be off about 1.5 mph at 60 mph. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Slovak tires with a Spanish name! That just seems funny for some reason. That combined with the V rating tells me they probably won't last long. Do they at least say that they are DOT approved on the sidewall?

Pearldrop, that's cool about the speedo. Thanks for the info.

I got them cheap cuz the tires I won were used, so the $120 was for the used tires and shipping. Seller made a mistake, though, and the set I won didn't match. So he took the fall and sent me the new tires for the same amount of $. He has a pretty big rep on Ebay and I don't think he wanted to risk negative feedback. He was cool to make things right like he did.

DBMaster, on the sidewall it's written: DOT J3FU, whatever that means.
