That looks nice pico. So when are you planning to dyno? How many miles are on the new engine.
I wish i had a rebuilt engine that i could upgrade. I don't want to touch my engine, runs like a dream and bone stock.

So are you going to cut a hole in the cam gear to show the new one or just run it without the cover?Originally Posted by picopop

Did you do it the right way & remove the lower timing belt cover & crank pully to make sure everything was lined up right, or you take a short cut?

I took a shortcut, but I made sure that the belt stayed in its position.Originally Posted by ddude2uc

I'm going to pick up another cover from the J/Y and I'll cut a hole in that one.Originally Posted by nswst8

I was thinking about cutting a hole in it too. Dremel?
I think that should work.Originally Posted by BITESIZE
I have one of these that we use on Drywall to cut holes, I'm going to try it first
I'm also going to pick up a couple of covers at the J/Y since I know I'm going to F-up the first one.
Lol, extra one is a good idea. Did you just take the old gear off and place the new one on?
I slid the belt off the cam gear and made sure it didnt come off the crank gear and just switched the pulleys around and re-tensioned the beltOriginally Posted by BITESIZE
I don't have a camshaft cover, unless your in the sticks running on dirt roads with rocks flying up , or your hood is missing, why bother?
.
Makes the car look cleaner and covers up the ugly stock gear.
For an aftermarket like what we have, cut a hole in the stock one.
And I quite enjoy driving the logging roads here![]()
So you undid the belt tensioner then?
ddude the cover is useful for avoiding a fix it ticket for non CARB mod here in cali![]()
Yes and I took my time, but I was nervous when I started her upOriginally Posted by BITESIZE

I was planning on doing it the same way. Did you do it by yourself or have an extra 2 hands?
by myself, since I dont have cruise anymore I was able to use the bracket that held the cruise control unit in place to hold the belt tightOriginally Posted by BITESIZE
I want mine onWOOT WOOT I HAVE A CAM GEAR!!!!
Looking good there pico.
I would think they are slightly lighter thank stock. My cam gear is made with the toothed steel part of the stocker with the adjustable aluminum piece in the middle and it weighs the same. Now being the golden eagle ones are full alum they should free up some weight.
I've swapped out cams many of times and just mark the belt to the gear slide off the tbelt and slide back on, tension it back up. Spin the engine once and use the TDC mark on the flywheel to make sure my cam is sitting at TDC when it comes back around. If its not at tdc then I know I have to move the belt a tooth.
nice. il have to wait till i redo my engine. to install mine.
