    Time of death 144k mi. R.I.P. Lx-i !!!

Ok well, my mech just served my little a20 her death sentence. Suckiest thing too, f***ing rod knock. Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?!!!!?!!! Lol.
And after I just bought those new injectors too. Damn. Doc says she's only got a few months. And then _boom_! That's all folks! And I was getting so excited about buying the new Stage 2 cam and adj gear like Messy...
That's not even the worst part, well maybe it is, but this is equally bad: the only other honda I can maybe afford will be a damn D16. Never thought I'd be saying that... If only some kind sniper would just put me out of my misery as I pull into the dealership...

So what I need from you guys is alternatives. What else can I do for a comparable price on a 2-5 year old car? And would anybody be interested in picking it up for parts? Ok, scratch that, In the next post I'll tell you why you wouldn't want to do that.
I have disgraced myself in the eyes of HondaBoy. I have bought an American car. My shame is great...
    NOT...lol...Cobalt FTW!!!

    Time of death... (cont.)

Ok, new post. (because I know you guys have short attention spans, lol)
This is what all is wrong w/the car,
    Ahem...la...:harmonica note:
    1. SUSPENSION!!! Control arms bent badly, possibly shocks/struts, alignment, and about everything else in the sus.
    2. Front left rim bent slightly.
    3. ROD KNOCK!!!
    4. Trip meter sticks.
    5. Driver door handle just broke underneath, on left half where it attaches to door lever. Don't know how.
    6. Steering linkage, and early signs of power steering failure.

So no parts car, just kaput! Now, about those suggestions...

why don't you fix it? and how did so much go wrong with that few miles? if you don't know how to rebuild an engine buy a rebuilt or a short block.

i have a goor dunning engine here if you want it. $100 takes it. i'm sure you can make it back to florida with those problems. ericW has a parts car down there that you may be able to scavenge parts from, too.

those are all really minor problems in the grand scheme of things. just get home and worry about it then. in the mean time, don't drive the car much.

Lol, how did I know you would say that. I really didn't "race the shit out of it," as you would say. I only raced it maybe 3 times, and I never floored it after the 2nd day I got it. I stopped racing it because the auto trans started to hesitate a REALLY REALLY little bit. And I didn't wanna kill it. Might even have had something to do w/my switch to synthetic about 5 months back. Besides BiteSize, aren't you the one who takes yours to the track a million times to win trophies?

But to reply to MH, it happened today. Just started.
Reply to engine swap, I wish, but I don't have ANY tools required for either swapping in an engine or rebuilding or anything like that. Or any place at all to work on it. I never drove it hard though, cause I decided I like gas mileage better than speed.

Are you sure it is bottom end knocking? a blown head gasket will cause the valves to hammer pretty hard too.
On the other hand too, the synthetic oil may have something to do with it if it had scores on the bearings already. Oil pump failure, anything it could be. I would make dam sure it was bottom end before you pay you last respects and sell the farm.
I saw a black 3g sedan for sale around the corner from my house today, I have to go check that out tommorrow! that proves some are still up for grabs in decent shape.

hey, so your not even going to consider putting a new bearing or two in the rod that's knocking? maybe its because i have access to a lift or that i've done it a few times, but its not really that hard to change one out. although its kinda messy work if you dont like oil.

    Update!!!

I just heard my timing belt squeaking. (regardless of the fact that it's only 3-4 months old!) My timing might be off from the loose belt. Food for thought...

But I'm afraid I'm really starting to like the idea of an RSX type S, actually!!!
