Notice any thing differant. The fat one is a reman can't remember from where. The lower one is a cardone new shaft. it is solid where as the other is hollow.

Did you try it on the car yet? I went to the car store and ordered one for my car and it looked like the skinny solid one you have and they said it was for my car but it was too large to fit in the hub and looked like it was about 1/2 inch too long. I had to actually take my hub assembly to the car store and show them it didnt fit.

I noticed the same thing. I bought like 4 of the top ones from Shucks, those remanufactured shits. None of them worked. Went to NAPA and got one like the bottom, it was brand new, not a remanufacutred shaft. So much nicer. I think the top ones are cheaper to make or maybe easier to balance out.

    Re: Differant CV shafts

I have a question guys, the new Cardone 1/2 shaft is cheaper than the reman, so I went w/ the new one, is there problems w/ the Cardone shaft. Should I keep old hollow one and rebuild for later? I haven't done my Signature yet, 88 Accord

Inoticed that when i did my last axel. don't remember if i bought new or refurb'd but it makes it a hell of a lot easier to get to that lower control arm bolt to the frame!

No, No problems at all.In fact I think it has less vibration over all. It is considerable heavier. Seems like a good shaft and the boots seem to be holding up well.

    Re: Differant CV shafts

How much were the Cardone axles? I have remans on my car now, but the next time a boot rips I might want to go for some new ones.

The OEM ones are hollow. A lot of times you can get greater strength with less weight that way. I would think you would want as little spinning mass as possible, but I think either version will work just fine.

    Re: Differant CV shafts

The new Cardone was 80 bucks and no core, while the reman were 120+. with a core.
That was at Baxter's Auto Parts, they bought up all the NAPA's around here. I don't care for them to much, salespeople can be dicks, they always try to over sell you, so I have to say no that is not what I told you I wanted.

Thanks for everybody's input, this is a great site! Good to know that I'm not the only one wrenching a on 20yr old Accord.

Off topic, I'm in the process of putting my Accord back together after some dumb-ass tried to steal my stock 1988 radio/cassette deck? Who would want it and why? I did have my XM plugged into the cassette, (Maybe he thought he need it for the XM?) now I'm rewiring it into the dash and will use FM. The sound isn't as good, but it looks cleaner.
