Yeah i hear you. I have thought about going with a separate set of rims maybe even step up to 17's just for those ram around weekends like up on the Dragons tail etc.
I really dont think you could get 5k miles on them. I difenitely dont think they would be legal after 1k since the tread basically shreads off and they become slicks. rain ,well, its your life.

Great tyre, almost too good for Aerodeck, I can't break it or even make it scream!
The wheel protection(the edge of the wheel is sit deep from the tyre sidewall) is fantastic for my wife, haha.
Amazing in wet, very safe you can drive like mad.
It is stiff for family with H&R spring.
For this reason, I m thinking about Michelin Pilot or Yoko AVS.

the ride is a little harsh by comparing to stock, i can feel every bump, crevice, and dip in the road...
but at least it looks and handles good.
