    Over Heating Problem

My 89 Lxi is over heating, the radiator is cold and so is the top hose but the bottom hose is warm, also I've got good heat inside and the fan is working. There was good pressure when I took off the radiator cap.
    any ideas?
    Thanks,jim

for a quickie you can take the hose off and punch it with a long screwdriver should get some flow to the radiator then

Would be easier to just replace the thermostat then try to get it to work.

sure assuming that the housing comes off without any problem, I've run into a problem with stubborn bolts, and penetrant can take a few hours to loosen em up, you don't want to have a bolt snap in the middle of winter, specially if you don't have a garage to work in. I've used the srewdriver thru the thermostat a few times in a pinch to cure an overheating car when it wasn't practical to replace the thermostat ( like on the side of the interstate during a blizzard for example)

if your car doesn't get hot your thermostat stuck open. replace it and you should be fine.
if your car overheats. the thermostat stuck closed (cheap brands do that). replace thermostat and it should be fixed.
The best thermostat for our cars are OEM honda from a dealer. it works better than some aftermarket thermostats.

A/C Delco is a good second choice. I use some of them from the parts house.
