    Canadian Steering Rack

Could the Canadian members provide references for reputable used Canadian parts dealer who might have manual steering racks and be willing to ship it to Texas?

    Thanks.

Just to share with ya, I tried ordering parts from Canadian parts places. Every single one I spoke with wouldn't do it. They don't like taking credit cards over the phone from other countries and shipping to where they can't take any sort of legal recourse... If you find a place that will though, I'd love to hear about it.

Yeah buddy! I've made a few of those. I still need the head from a Canadian car. Maybe if bushbean can't get one, I can pick one up for him next time I go up. I think that I need a passport now to get back into the US, which is kinda crap.

Thanks! Just let me know whenever you think you can get your hands on one. I don't need one right away; the ps rack and pump are just starting to leak slightly, so it can probably last a long time before they got kaput.

It's too bad Texas is so far from Canada.

Do you think the Canadians would be willing to ship if I pay 'em with US Postal Service Money Order before they ship? I can't see any risk for 'em in that. And, I can't see why a good business person would refuse a sale.

Hmm... I had told some other members I would try and get them manual racks, and with winter, I honestly haven't been very motivated to do any car work, but I will be at the parts store sometime this week and will see what I can find out./

    Re: Canadian Steering Rack

i guess its time to resurrect this thread from the dead. anyways, which model actually came with a manual rack? every last accord ive seen so far, regardless of the trim package came with a power steering rack, so do i have to look for a DX model that has noting added to it?

i would too as it clears up engine bay clutter, but i dont recall ever seeing a manual rack on these cars before. i thought the manual rack was only an american option while the power steering rack was the only option canadian cars had

ya, i think the rear beam has to be swapped as well, and possibly the inner and outer tie rods as well, but im not sure on that part

i figured power steering was standard cause i never seen it in manual form before. i guess back in the 80's, nobody liked the manual rack and the armstrong steering that came with it

    Re: Canadian Steering Rack

The problem with the manual rack is that the cross member that holtd the rack is different from the power steering one.

The bushings are also discontinued from the dealer. I tried to order some for 88lxi68 and the deaker told me they're not available anymore.

I CAN get reman racks at Napa here tough. There must be a way to make them fit.
