    a few questions on trannys

    ok im looking into buying an 89 lx-i. problem its automatic. will a 5 speed from an 89 DX carb fit ? any type of fab work required?

    95 Civic DX
    AEM short ram intake
    Focuz racing catback
    5 inch racing tach
    9mm NGK racing wires
    NGK iridium plugs
    Racing Chip rev limiter 8200 govonor eliminator (not installed)

    well you will need to read the FAQ on the 5spd swap

    but yes it will bolt right up

    Yes it should fit. There should be no problems as far as i know. I know that one of the axles will not fit do to the auto being slightly different in that area(correct me if im wrong). The carb tranny has taller gears, thats the difference.

    i was going to take it to my mechanic if i get the car i dont have the tools or skill requiered for a job like that. i have also read the how to on it...it doesnt seem to bad

    Maybe now would be a good time to take a hard look at what this is going to cost you. Get a firm quote (if you can) from the mechanic. You will need another axle (maybe from the donor car). But also review what else the car might need pretty soon. You wouldn't want to get in so far you can't get out, in other words maybe finding a 5 spd car is the way to go. Just a thought.

    well i could always just keep it auto and use it as my daily driver and just continue the work on my DX....im still unsure as to wether im getting the lx-i. i just wanted some input.

    why dont you just convert your dx to fuel injection....the dx is lighter so it would be faster.

    more exspensive. plus i like power windows locks and the sunroof.
