    tranny hoses and unidentified bracket

i almost have the 2 door put together, the only things really hanging me up are the hoses on the top of the tranny (5sp) and a bracket that we don't know where it goes. the hoses are the two next to the speedo cable hole, there's one about 24" long and the other about 9", what do these connect to? there is also a bracket that both cars had. i've had different people helping me take the cars apart and putting them back together, so some stuff i'm not sure about. somebody also told me there should be a mount on the end of the tranny, but there wasn't one on the car, and i don't see where it would bolt to either the tranny or the frame

That bracket is the mount for the tranny. It's the lower mount. There are 3 bolts that hold it on. Here is a pic, it is circled in yellow. I believe the hoses are for the power steering.

does that brace need to be there? the two door had the bracket on the engine but not the brace in the engine bay. where do those hoses connect?

that is a sweet picture... any of the full exhaust taken from the bottom?

We could compare that to the lude which we already know about or even other cars to look for potential cat-back donors.

Re: tranny hoses and unidentified bracket

The two hoses go to the steering rack. If you look at the top of the rack a bit toward the driver's side of the speed sensor location, you should see two metal lines aiming in the general direction of the sensor. The hoses are of different length, so it is a bit difficult to hook them up backwards. Paul's website is down for good it seems, which means no known source of electronic shop manual for now.

The brace below the engine should be the same between AT and MT cars.

Both of the hoses connect to the rack. Here is a pic from the shop manual that i hope helps. I circled it in red.
