jdm b20a in to usdm 1989 accord lx-i

HI, I have been trying to research about putting in a b20a from 1987-1989 Honda Accord Non-U.S. Serial numbers 1600001~ and 1640001~ (Black Valve Cover) engine into my 1989 usdm manual transmission 1989 accord lx-i with the a20a3 engine as stock. i was wondering if anyone could tell me what else I would need to purchase/replace when swapping engines. Also, about the additional parts, if you have ANY suggestions on retail/online or anywhere to purchase i would appreciate it alot. for instance the ECU for the b20a needed, i don't know what part number it should be identified as and/or where to purchase it. I also was planning on using my manual transmission in my '89 with the swap.

input would be much appreciated i have a seller and it's not a common engine so I want to try and buy asap but not if I cannot do the swap.

Well, You can't use your usdm tranny, because it will not bolt up to the jdm b20a. For an ecu you can use one from a b20a5 ( 88-91 usdm prelude) you will also need different axles, that you can get from the same year prelude. Carotman did a write up on this in the b20a section. You have to change some wireing around too. Depending on what engine you get, theres the gold top(86-87 jdm accord, the second gen jdm prelude) and the black top (88-89 jdm accord) you will have to change the intake manifold if you get the gold top. You can use your a20a manifold, or you can adapt a b16 intake manifold. Also the exaust manifold only has one o2 sensor so you should probly switch that with a b20a5 manifold, or aftermarket header, it requires a bit of modifacation, but nothing serious. You also should look into some stiffer motormonts, cause this baby will snap your front mount like a twig.
I do't now a whole lot about the swap, even tho Im in the process of doing one lol, but there are a lot on guys on here that know there shit, and will be able to help you out.

well, depends on how you source it. the premier way at this time seems to be to have an nz member find you a b20a-powered 3g down there and have them strip all the parts from it that you would need. that way, you could get everything as close to oem as possible. things you'll need off that donor:
    engine (duh)
    tranny
rear (and possibly other) engine mount
    axles
    ecu
wiring harness (just to make life easier)
exhaust manifold + downpipe to cat
shift linkage? (i'm not completely sure on that one

Thanks to all of you for your input. I think that it is a little bit too pricey to upgrade to the b20a for the additional 17 hp. I was hoping that all it would need was a new ecu chip and harness and I could get a websource to purchase them. I still wouldn't know how to stiifen the motor mounts or where to find the rear mount. I was told by the engine retailer that from what he knew that everything should bolt together for my specific model
accord because it's from the same year accord just jdm and
to just swap the manifolds. Also I thought that my accord has a F2K5 or B2K5
transmission and that's what the b20a used. I may be mistaken but again any feedback would still be appreciated. especially any websource for jdm parts
harness ecu ect. for 3gen accords since most places don't have them because it is not a common swap.

The whole reason I was looking into it was because I have a cracked block in my A20a3 motor and it has to be replaced so I was going to upgrade. the cost of the egines are about the same and both available but I don't want to have to put all the money into it just for 17 hp. my next thread will be asking about turbo charging the a20a3. thanks

You will get more than 17hp. The fuel ijection A20 puts out 130 hp and the fuel injected B20a puts out 160 hp if my research is correct. Also I've heard that the stock axles will work fine from the A20. You will need a B20A5 dizzy, headers, down pipe, ecu, A B20a power steering pump wiring harness or just adfapt the A20 harness. It will take some time but they do pop up every once in a while.
