    a20a?

What different types of a20a's are there and what cars do they belong to? I think i have a a20a3 (for a 87 acccord lxi 5spd). I guess my biggest thing i'm wondering if it's possible to through a better a20 engine in my car (if there is such a thing)

I think the difference between an 86-87 and 88-89 FI engine is 10hp

The difference between the 86-87 and 88-89 are the higher compression pistons, dual stage intake manifold, and 4-2-1 header design resulting in a 12HP increase. All the mounting points, tranny bolt pattern, etc are the same. But to make the intake manifold work would be a big pain in the ass due to different sensors, vaccum lines, etc. SO what I was going to do before I got the B20 was to get a low mileage 88/89 engine, take off the intake and exhaust manifold and throw on my 86 intake manifold and reuse my DC header. That way, you get the higher compression pistons while still keeping the wirng and hoses easy to reconnect. The higher compression pistons are probably good for about 7-10HP.

If you want to swap in a better engine read "Before you ask anything read here". Hence the name.. I've got an A20A and I am working on a B16A2 swap right now. it's around a 70 ho diff, not to mention ALL of the sick aftermarket parts for it!!! AHHHH. It's insaine, after you drop one of those suckers in slap on a vortech supercharger and prepare to see 180 some odd horse power more then you dinki stock A20!!!

That dinkie a20a3 makes more torque than that overrated b16a2- stock of course, not supercharged.

all that crazy torque you are talking about from the A20 (88-89)amounts to:
    37lbs less than a B16 in 1st gear
    114lbs less in 2nd
    113lbs less in 3rd
    104.5lbs less in 4th
    and 70lbs less in 5th

    give it up

how much would pistons cost for the 88-89 accord, and how much are aftermarket pistons, would they be worthwhile for me right now?
