    Re: autometer RPM TACH

the instructions come with the tach, or you can download them from the auto meter website.

Also look as the external ignition coil how to to find out which wires to use... since the stock coil has multiple wires to it.

make sure you cut the correct wires on the back of the tach to set it up for 4 cylinder applications.

why go through all the hassle of doing that, when you can just look at the tach in you gauge cluster =P

    Re: autometer RPM TACH

i would convert to diff coil first and then connect the external tach.
as far as your gauges, the voltmeter one would be the one more use to you than Air/fuel or tach.
our cars have tach so we don't need it and air/fuel gauge doesn't work at idle or regular driving. it only works when you floor it in every gear. basicly you just got a nice light show in a car.

    Re: autometer RPM TACH

in my opinion, I think you would be happier with it on the left side.
i have mine on the right and hate it there. At night i have to throw a ball cap over it to not call so much attention to it. The light in it is bright as hell too.
this is only an opinion so take it for what it's worth.

    Re: autometer RPM TACH

Often, the aftermarket autometer tach connected directly to your coil is more accurate than your stock in-dash tach. My stock tach would read about 6700rpm sometimes at rev limit, while the autometer read right under 7000 (which is the 6950 I assume it should be). Not probably enough of a difference to matter most of the time. Often, they read the same.

I have an 8k and 10k autometer. I think at this point, I just use it because I like the shift light.
