honestly Ive had both the yellow and red top and they die just like the rest. Actually i had better life and warrany out of the top of the line die hard.
One thing about these batteries is that if they do die out you must trickle charge them. If you charge it normally it will seiously cut down its performance and die out quicker.
This is the battery im running now mounted to the firewall since the optima took up valuable turbo room.

I swapped to a smaller battery from a 92-95 Civic to make room for my intake.

i have heard that optima stopped using quality materials since they got their name. Any backup for this??
I got a cheap one from the Twilight zone, I mean Autozone. Has yellow name on it brand - Valuecraft. Anyway, it has a warranty. I'm not into spending high dollar amounts on the starting system.
.
i have a enterprize one from 2001 and i have a backup new walmart one![]()

I put in a Die-Hard truck, van, and suv, never left me stranded, and I leave stuff on. Optima red tops are overrated. I have had one in my suburban. My family and my friends have had red tops. They don't last, maybe it it is the heat here, but I have had way better luck with the cheaper ones. I would go with whatever has the highest cranking amps and best warranty. Autozone probably has the best warranty with the duralast golds and good CCA. Most of the store brand batteries are made by the major battery manufactures. Die-hard alone has 5 or 6 different sources for their batteries.
costco brand (kirkland) battery FTW lol.. starts up every time no problem![]()
Ive got a red top in my race car. It seems to do alright. The best thing about it in my case is thats its dry cell.
Ive got a Die Hard in my truck.
mid-grade one from wal*mart. 1 year starting warranty, so i can't complain.
I've got a 5-year battery from Batteries Plus. It's all swollen and leaky though like a bad skin sore. I dunno if it's the battery itself, or if the alternator is over-charging it... The damn thing makes hissing noises when I shut off the car. But it's been working great for over 2 years so far.

Originally i had a yellow top and to my surprise it lasted a long time but died last year so i replaced it with a red top. I did go through a red top in a year but they pro-rate them so i picked up another one only because its in my trunk and i feel more comfortable with a sealed unit.
ive had a bunch of batts and id say my die hard was the worst, i had a interstate and it was pretty decent, lasted a long time

I've been running a Red top for a few years now. Its in my trunk now and like Rob said "I feel more comfortable with a sealed unit" back there. I've already cleaned up one mess from a leaking battery and that was enough to keep me from buying another one since i didn't want to go through that trouble again.
this is a valid point because ive seen engine blocks pitted from being splashed with battery acid
