So its been a while happy new years. Small date on my car. Over the holidays I had some time to put the it back together enough for transportation I also dropped the motor because it was in there with one mounts and I need to make room for to work in stuff like the first cross member, finish the down pipe/exhaust and anything else I may come across. Also had time to source some of the hardware needed for the at be plate and mate it together. But nobody cares about A2B anyways. Enjoy the world's first a2b awd mock up. Yes I know it's a automatic transmission but same dimensions for the manual and I had a spare from one of my crv's.

A2b definitely. Awd probably not. If I find a transmission at a good price I'd definitely pull the trigger due to the fact that you can get the shift fork swap so fwd gear sets will fit in side awd case now. It definitely opens the possibility and I wouldn't want to limit my options. But fitting the transmission isn't the hardest part of the awd swap. How to fit a rear diff in the rear would be the hardest part. Its mostly because it's the only b series I have laying around for mock up that's not in a vehicle so I dosen't hurt. I'll tell you this much for those worried about weight this thing setup is not joke.

AWD = 4WD, right? l mean, they try to make it sound all fancy-like but it's still a basic 4WD setup.

Yeah but but on a Honda is not really 4wd because the is no shift in to 4wd. It's a real time system so the front wheels have to spin 1 and in half rotation before the rear diff kicks in. Theres s tone of work around so it more of a all the time awd setup. But awd setups are all the rage I'm the Honda world so parts are crazy expensive now. Luckily I have a couple crvs to play with

I wonder how they make that work. I hear all these pixie dust claims about torque splitting diffs and computerized traction control at each wheel and all this razmataz, then I wonder how they make it work with old-style 4WD hardware. I have a sneaking suspicion that all these fantasmical AWD systems are nothing more than old style 4WD setups with a fancy set of brakes that slow you down when you get too crazy. On a 2WD car, they call it traction control and everyone hates it. Add another diff and it somehow turns into Aladdin's lamp? I guess if you have computers and you're going to tune 4WD for road handling, then you're allowed some leeway to name it something different. Still it seems disingenuous to describe in the fairy tale terms they do. I'm not bagging on AWD categorically, just suspicious of all the marketing claims fluttering around. Maybe I'm missing something?

So yeah something like that. The diff has clutch disk is it and use fluid pressure to activate them once the driveshaft spins to fast it kick the diff into action. It all mechanical not ecu to anything. There are work around like the viscous coupler from the wagovan. Also you can swap the rear diff as well because its a normal geared diff instead of the clutch packs that are in the crv stock. Bisimoto new wagovan has a modified version of the crv that has upgraded clutch disk and a ramp up upgrade that makes it the awd system more responsive. I've been doing a tons of reading about it because I plan to upgrade the system on mine for better soft roading experience.

So did a thing. Well kinda I was able to drop the A2B setup in today. There's some issues with space in the rear the trans hits the rear sub frame nothing a bit hammer can't fix and the trans sits on the radius arm from the front cross member. I would assume that this is a problem for AWD trans but not for the Fwd. So with that being said I will test a Fwd and go from there. Also the front and rear mount seem to line up with little to no problems. The drivers side will need to move but this is because of where the trans is hitting. Cheers

It's been a while. Well quick update on things.
First was give the opportunity to buy the Boba Fett block. It's a option to speed thing way and a cool way for it to live on. Just have to plan a trip to go get in coming weeks. For the time being it with be picked up and held buy family member in the area.
Secondly I've found my much needed 5 speed awd trans to finish the a2b swap. So thing are still going slowly but surely

After weeks of waiting the trash final made it. 3 weeks late and missing parts but it made. Then my son's 2nd birthday and a covid scare at my wife Job prompts a two week lockdown in which my tools were stolen out of my work vehicle. So here we are 6weeks later and I've take the time today to put everything back together and get the 5speed awd trans on the plate and put it in the car for test fitment. It actually fit much better then I though after test fitment with the automatic transmission. I had my doubts but after today I'm glad I went with the awd transmission and would tell anyone that's considered a2b it's the bes way to go.
With that being said here some photos and back to the drawing board to finish this thing.
Ps. My good friend will be shipping me the block from Washington to California from her job so that should be I'm it's way I'm the next week of so.
