Thanks that helped me sort a few things out.
What I gather from reading the exhaust articles is that I don't want the piping to be too small nor too large and that the high flow cat is a great improvement over stock, but just a little more restrictive than a test pipe.
When I eventually get a full exhaust system done I'll go with 2.25'' piping (I'm planning on making over 160hp in the years to come so this is planning ahead) and getting a Magnaflow cat for $56. I'm assuming that this cat will allow me to pass emissions right?

Okay thanks. Hopefully it won't take long to get the exhaust but realistically it could take a long while. I can also re-use my current muffler cause it's got a 2.25" inlet which will save me money.
Stacks in my pockets FTW! lol
I remember a mention of a dyno test that found a 1HP gain in favor of a cat. It was on a WRX. A high-flow cat is really only going to be a negligible difference either way.
Bear in mind the stock WRX cat is going to be designed to have high flow from the factory. This isn't at all uncommon on performance cars. We're replacing cats from late 80s economy cars.Originally Posted by speedpenguin

I'm talking about the difference in running one and not running one, not the difference between an old unit and a hagh-flow unit.
Well I have emissions here so I have to run a cat.![]()
Those hubcaps are fugly. Beautiful car!!
I agree with Bitesize on the fact that the honda hubcaps, are not very attractive. If you are on a budget, and looking for a better-looking cheap alternative, if you like the look you can just remove the hubcaps, and give the stock wheels a nice coat of black paint. All you have to do is clean up your wheels real good, get about 2 cans of duplicolor black paint, take your wheels off, and paint them. It will also give you an excuse to rotate your tires while your at it.Originally Posted by BITESIZE

Got that picture in color? I like the idea and I've thought about it but it's hard to contrast the black wheels with all the other black in the picture.Originally Posted by Catalyst

I have actually tried running without the hub caps before, but I wasn't really satisfied with it and I got a lot of negative feed back. I did a quick photoshop of your wheels on my car. I'm still not really thinkin that's what I want to do right now.

I'll consider it some more. It looks really different on your car than it does on mine. The last time that I had the caps off I wasn't able to get a lot of rust off of the wheels so I think that killed the look. It might try gloss black paint sometime in a couple of weeks. What did you use to clean the wheels? I tried brake cleaner, but there was still quite a bit left on there.
Paint them satin black. That is what my brother painted mine, when the car was his of course.Originally Posted by Hans

Shit, I just run the steelies. Of course, I don't have rust on my wheels.
I used the wrong choice of words. I don't think that it's rust, it's just stuck on brake dust.
Thats ok. Mine still had some junk on them I couldn't get off, but I wasn't planning on keeping those wheels on for more than a year. If you plan to switch wheels in the future, it doesn't really matter that these turn out perfect. Just paint over the stuff you can't get off. If you can't get it off yourself, it probably wont just fall off and cause chips in the paint. If its stuck on, its stuck on, so if you only plan on using the wheels for a year or so, go for it.Originally Posted by Hans
