    Auto Tranny mods

Looking to beef up the long-term reliability of my decent-mileage auto tranny (90k miles, bought from a 94 year old, works great)...

    1. B&M Trickshift Full Synthetic Fluid

    ***Already installed***

    2. B&M SuperCooler Oil Cooler

    http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

    3. Cyberdyne Digital Tranny Gauge

    http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
    70-260 degress

    4. Trans-Dapt Automatic Transmission Filter, Remote Mount

    http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

    Anybody done these before?

the oil cooler works wonders, im not sure but i know alot of people bypassed the radiator alltogether when they installed them, also if i remember corectly the best things for these tranys are honda aT fluid right from the company, back when i flushed mine it was about 23 bucks a bottle lol good luck

All that looks good. Cant't miss with an auxillary cooler and a remote filter has got to be better then a fliter you cant get at.

Not so sure on the fluid only because Honda can be finicky on there fluids.

The other thing that is a poplular mod on Auto is to bump the fluid pressure up. This is usually done with an internal mod to the valve body. Its popular called a "shift kit" Summit sells them for domestics. With some research and a good tranny book and maybe a rebuilder you could make some mods your self.

I personally like Auto just not ours but there sweet set ups when set up right.

did this mod in my 05 civic (chunk of crap car, by the way) took an input from the radiator & routed to the extra cooler, then the output goes back to the tranny. no temp gauge then for reference tho.

yea there's a big disclaimer from B&M on that, in terms of fine print

tho, a R&D guy i talked to, who builds and designs turbo intake systems for imports, said that's what they run in their turbo automatic hondas. they try everything and were pushin 8 psi on a auto tranny using trickshift synthetic for 9 months so far with great results

i've heard the horror stories about not using honda ATF, but i like experimenting with new stuff just to see what works

the 05 civic auto tranny sucked compared to this 88 accord auto. the accord switches gear faster and it engages more solidy than a new vic....

thanks to MessyHonda for the extra set of hands!

installed in conjunction with the stock radiator... just adds a bit of cooling.

i was slammin down 101... wide open throttle... 3rd gear, got a little past 6k rpms and it shifted into 4th perfectly. nice and solid. much quicker shift than before installing the synthetic B&M & cooler...

    Re: Auto Tranny mods

yesterday i added a 4 gauge ground from the negative battery terminal to the thermostat housing (stacked against the transmission ground wire)

that definitely made more a difference.... even quicker shifting on the way to work today, especially upshifting in the mid-rpms...

i need to check out the design manual to see how the transmission employs the ground wire, to what effect, etc... because i didn't think grounding the transmission more-than-stock would have an effect on shifting... apparently it does, tho....
