Vacuum Line

A year ago when I was putting the red vacuum lines in my car, one of the plastic fittings on my intake broke. I figured that the vacuum system needs filtered air so I put a breather filter on the end of the line. Since I'll be getting an intake this summer I figured that I could take the other vacuum line and attach it to the one that I put the breather on. My PGM-FI light came on one time on monday and hasn't since. I was wondering if the setup below is okay for the car.

When I get the intake I'll attach the Idle Up and Idle Control Valve to the intake and put a breather on the valve cover.

So that line was hooked to the air intake tube, after the air filter? If it was hooked up before any sensors, you should be fine AFAIK. The way to find out if it's okay is: How does the car run? If it runs fine, I woudln't worry about it.

Yeah it was hooked up after the air filter and before sensors. I was asking because that PGM-FI light came on the one time, so I just wanted to make sure. It has always run fine though. Thanks for your help

ok, you are doing this all wrong. a Vacuum line is just that, a line for vacuum. when you put a filter on it you are not getting vacuum to what ever sensors it is attached to. your can might be running OK but it will not run right. the reason that line is hooked up to the intake is not for filtering the air. it is there becuase as the motor draws air it cuases a vacuum in the line that sensor(s) on the other end read this and then send a signal to the computer. if you want to fix this, you can T it in to another vacuum line that might be on the manifold. i hope this helps.

yeah those 86-87 EFi engines are a bit complicated with the 3 vac lines hooked up to the intake piping.

Okay thanks Ill try hooking up the T to another line. I'll prob end up having to have like three or four connectors hooked up to my new intake. I'll have to take it to a shop and have them weld them on.

those look like vinal tubing, not rubber. those usually collapse pretty quickly, so watch out for that.

from my experiences the vinal tubing tends to prematurely fail quicker than rubber tubing. i can only think it is because of the heat.

Naw they are silicone hoses from 3ARacing. I've had them on there for over a year and they're fine.
I figured out a way to get the hose that broke off back onto the intake. I took a plastic vacuum connector, cut off the part of the tip, and shoved it into the hole on the intake. It aint coming out, I def checked it. The car runs a little better and the gas pedal feels better. Back to stock FTW! lol
I took out my filter to inspect it and found it was covered in crap so I got a new one which I'll install tomorrow.

U need to check that pgmi lite if it came on that mean there a prop. some where check the ground on the injectors dont ignor it it's under the fuel pressure regulator just check to be sure

Okay thanks, I'll do that in the morning when I install the filter.

Okay I installed the filter and cleaned the outside of the whole intake and the inside of the filter box, it was NASTY! The car runs better and feels like it can now really breathe especially at high rpms.

i took out mine and cleened it too then i got a SRI a month later i really like the SRI it helps alot

Yeah that's my goal for the summer. It just sucks that all those vacuum lines have to go on there.
