    carb problems

    carb problems
ok guys so i switch the fuel pump and i still get sluggish accel
    a surging idle.
so im thinking its the carb so what im going to do is go to the jy today
and buy a new carb 31 bucks im going to start a tab
so my plans is just to take the old carb off and put a the new one on and clean out the old one.
or since im pressed for time
i was thinking that i should just take apart the carb im getting from the jy
and soak it in carb cleaner for a day or so and then come back and clean the injectors and all the holes and everythign and then hopefully put it on my car see if that fixes the problem
now here is the question do you guys think that this is a well thought out plan?

Best bet would be to get a carb rebuild kit and rebuild the carb you either have now you the one you get from the junkyard. I would say get one from the junkyard, then the one thats on the car should just get rebuilt.

Not sure on how much the kit is, but you can rebuild it if you take your time and follow the instructions.

    Re: carb problems

i think i had the same problem my car is a 89dx carb and i think i fixed it by replacing my timing belt, fuel pump, or fuel filters. I had sluggish accel until 3k rpms, i still kinda do the car starts to pull harder at 3k and up for some reason. But try to rebuild the carb first and if that doesnt work then change your filters and see if your belts need to be changed.
