my friend recently has a Stage III B18c-R engine on a stand, he wants to sell it to me for $2,500 (Retail: $4,600)... Let me get down to the main problem, i dont care what it takes, i just wanna know will it bolt in my 89 LXi? or would the tranny not match up?

Well that would be a b18c5 and if it is truly modded to stage 3 I would buy and sell that thing for 5K. As for the install, check out my engine thread.

well first you will need to go from OBD-0 to OBD-I then you will need a jumper harness from OBD-II to OBD-I for the B18C5 (because it is OBD-II) you will need to find your self some PRI mounts or get some made for you

that would be one hell of a 3g if you did it

    Re: B18cR

here, i'm going to just do a copy-paste of the reply i gave earlier on this exact same topic. only thing i would add that the tranny will work if you get an adapter plate for the a20 tranny, but why in heavens name you would stick with it is beyond me. a stage 3 b18c5 would almost certainly blow it in no time at all. and besides, there's better trannies available that will bolt to the c5.

my friend, if the b18c5 comes with the tranny, you don't need any adaptors. it will bolt up. you'll only need an adaptor to either use a b-series tranny with your a20 or an a-series tranny with your b18c5.

assume that you will be able to keep a B tranny together, and they actually make LSD kis, and probably hardened gearsets and upgraded synchros for the B trannies, but we are lucky to find anything but a phantom grip lsd for the A tranny.

    ^^

CONGRATULATIONS! you get to build your own mounts. AND everything else for the swap that you can't use from a B car or an A car.

yes, custom mounts. or, figure out which member it is on the board who has the last known set of the placeracing mounts and axles and see if you can't bribe him to get them copied and remanufactured. otherwise, the thread entitled "how to swap in a b-series without mounts" is where you need to go next.

the best tranny for the b18c5 is the one that comes with it. some of the shortest gearing around + lsd factory. that would be the s80 tranny, if i'm not mistaken.

civics here are really over rated almost any car you see 'custom' is a civic or a integra.... i just want something that people are going to see and go wow never seen that before... ya know?

But question, for a Jumping Harness would it just be a OBD-0 to OBD-2 or what? because i found a site that has em but it shows like OBD0 to OBD2B and things like that?
